After being AWOL for some times, mainly due to relocating from one end of Germany to the opposite one and endlessly falling off the horse in an attempt to learn to ride properly, it's time to get back to my other futile attempt at a secondary career - writing

I already have. Sad as it is, but I don't seem to be rider material That's why I start training for my ppl (private pilot license) next month

No, not really I've always been an aviation nut, so the ppl was in the plans even before my miserable attempt at becoming a horse ridist. I thought that riding would be a good way to do some sports as my beer gut is sort of starting to show. That rules out cycling though, since my rather paunchy figure in Lycra is not an image that I want to impose on innocent bystanders Guess I'll have to settle for jogging.

The pilot license is something I always wanted to do and since it is now possible to get a reasonably well maintained single-engined plane for less than 150K, I want to get my license and then purchase a small plane (Cessna, Piper or Diamond). The ultimate dream is to do a RTW (round the world) flight in it. From Germany via Belgium, over to Britain, Isle of Lewis, Faroe, Iceland, Greenland then over to Nunavut in Canada, across Canada into Alaska, then over the short hop from Nome to Providenyia Bay in Russia and all across Russia back to Germany via Belarus and Poland. A "measly" 15.000 miles, that's the ultimate dream. Feel free to call me a wingnut
