I'm a liberal and an Obama-ite and I find the video very entertaining! Well done, and not at all annoying!
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Re: You know you're a Trek fan when . . .
I'm a liberal and frankly I often find DOWD annoying. Not in the way these guys do, obviously, but more because of her cute, mincing little word games. Sometimes they work well, but a lot of the time they're just so precious... And frankly they often they strike me as shortcut for doing any of the real work that you'd hope would go into that column.
So anyway I tried getting through this video, I really did. It's quite clever. I got half of the way. Someday when I don't have homework to grade maybe I'll go back and try to get through it all. But it's hard work when all thejokes fall flat because of your political point of view.
But what really caused me to click out was that this guy thinks KIRK would be a good President.
Kirk plus Spock plus McCoy, maybe. Yeah, I buy that analysis. Just Kirk? God help us.

I don't think he necessarily meant "Kirk" but a Kirk, in the archetype way.

Better than Archer.
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.
But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

You know you are a Trek fan when your husband tells Jim Lovell that it was his wife who got him interested in space and you bite your tongue because you almost respond "I got you interested in Star Trek, you were already interested in space".

But Archer became president of the Federation so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possiblity. You know you're a ST fan when you use it to get through high school.
Some of these people haven't taken their medication. Let's see what happens now...

What's wrong with Kirk as president?
Leaving contemporary politics aside, he was shown to be a great leader of the Enterprise and I have no doubt he'd be a great leader of the Federation. (Damn that Nexus!)

I worry about his tendency to shoot first talk later. BUT he certainly has the charisma. Personally though I don't trust politicians or buerocrats.

Re: You know you're a Trek fan when . . .
I think Kirk showed enough maturity to disprove the misconception that he's a "shoot first, talk later" guy. Witness TMP and TUC - just to take some movie examples.
And whatever Kirk was, it wasn't a politician or a bureaucrat.
