Re: Picard/Crusher shippers?
another forlorn relationship that never quite flickered nor died. Ahhh, star trek. They always liked the forlorn.

That whole "status quo" thing you know.
I actually liked the idea of them having an affair and Wesley actually being their love-child, with neither Jack nor Wesley knowing. Ah well.

Re: Picard/Crusher shippers?
I was pathetically hooked on it for years. Now I just don't want anything to do with it. The movies soured me. I hate feeling totally jerked around.
Sometimes I'm glad Enterprise ended early, because we really only need to ignore one episode, and it has built-in ignorability.

OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Re: Picard/Crusher shippers?
I kinda liked the Picard/Crusher thing too. Their's was a more mature, quiet relationship. It is the kind of romance that perhaps has the most long lasting potential - caring, nurturing, gentle. But that does not make for good drama, does it? The Trip/T'Pol ship has more smoke and then fire, more angst, more drama. It is a more youthful, painful kind of love. Maybe that is why it draws more people in.
I'm a Soval/Amanda shipper, myself. But I guess only a few people ever followed that. It is strictly a fan fiction product started by ShouldKnowBetter on the Trip/T'Poler's site (as far as I know). Kind of a May-December thing with the May aging more quickly so that they would eventually end in December together. There were three or four fic writers who took that up, including myself. And I know of only one story which is being written about that now...wait, possible two.

Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Linda, please... it's strange to me this relationship. You have to understand me: The fact is not that I don't like it: I like it, actually.
But, don't you think it is a little bit strange?
Would you like to explain me something?
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.
But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Re: Picard/Crusher shippers?
Forlorn, yes. Jerked around, maybe. Quiet and mature (and therefore less dramatic), perhaps--but for me, that's the gap that fanfic filled, because sometimes the drama was in exploring the secrets.
I dunno...sometimes I miss playing around with those characters. I haven't in a long time, and was maybe wondering if anyone else out there was still actually enthusiastic about it.

Re: Picard/Crusher shippers?
I liked Picard/Crusher a little more than Riker/Troi and a little less than Data/Yar which I can't even figure out why I liked it in the first place other than the fact that I was twelve at the time
But looking back on it, Picard/Crusher was probably the better of the three.

Well, I was 17 at the time, and I have to say that Data/Yar grabbed me first, too, and big-time--but it was kinda short-lived, wasn't it???
Funny, right after they killed her, my first TNG fic was an hour-long teleplay about bringing her back. During that first season I even got the haircut and two-tone color job--TOTAL hero-worship for Tasha, lol! And besides, in the late 80s, that hair was DAMN stylin! I just laugh at the pictures now...I don't know what's worse, that, or the mullet!
Re: Picard/Crusher shippers?
I found Tasha Yar the most interesting female character of TNG (didn't care much about Crusher or Troi), it's a pity they killed her off (and what a terrible way to die, in some kind of oil pit). The rest of the crew: because of boring Riker I did lose any interest I ever might have developed in men from Alaska, Geordi was okay, leaving us with the only three interesting characters: Picard, Worf and Data. Loved Data.
Love is a verb.

isn't it comforting to know that, even today, Trek remains true to it's form. [/sarcasm]

Re: Picard/Crusher shippers?
Asso, (from a few posts back), to understand the Soval/Amanda ship, you have to start with ShouldKnowBetter's stories. The one story that sucked me in was Shouldknowbetter's "A Truth Universally Acknowledged" on Soval's Annex. I think you would like that story.

Re: Picard/Crusher shippers?
A CO/CMO romantic relationship is one of the great no-nos. One of a medical officer's ultimate duties is to rule a commanding officer unfit for command. Having both together would compromise that. It's the same with a CO and and XO, since the XO is the second-in-command. Those two examples would be the two most serious violations of the non-fraternization rules. So both Picard/Crusher and Archer/T'Pol would be out of the question.
She's got an awfully nice bum!

Re: Picard/Crusher shippers?
They could've had some pretty good drama out of Picard/Crusher if they had actually done anything with it though.
