Has creativity ceased to exist?

There's a ton of creativity in fan fiction. Tends to have a narrow focus, but if its focusing on what you like, its fascinating. Reading/books turn up occasionally, but music not so much (though I remember one fanfic where they were listening to a recording of the monks of Mt. Seleya chanting. You're What? by Favors) So maybe you can put some in.
They watch a lot of movies, though.

I love Favors story You're what has alot of craetivity besides the Vulcan monks music they also use Bolero to figure that the tone of the music helps them fix an engineering problem all the human and Vulcans look for people who have knowledge of music and lamguages.Fanfiction has alot of creativity really used in cleaver ways.

That story has a good "getting rid of Koss" solution too. He's not a bad guy, just an inconvenient one. It also has a good T'Les.

I just saw something outside that reminded me of this thread. There was like a stand thingy probably to raise money for something, run by 2 chicks who were singing like opera and stuff. With a poster saying "Science and music. Without both, you know neither". And it reminded me what I posted in the first post about the only progress being in science and technology.

Maybe creativity really had ceased by Trek's time. Maybe it's happening right now maybe like as I'm typing this resources for artistic progress are being halted in favor of scientific progress. And the future belongs to gadget zombies *shudder shudder*

I, however, think it's interesting that Data, being the pinnacle of scientific acheivment, was so interested in the creative arts.

I suppose you could call holoprogram writing a kind of art. I mean, if weird blobs of bronze can (inexplicably, IMO) be called "art," why not holoprograms?

Well I didn't see "2001" either but I saw BSG... yeah Data is interested in arts, well pretty much all the characters are interested in arts and yeah they have their holoprograms, it's just that what I'm talking about with that "end of creativity" thing, all the arts are like arts from the past. Like our past. Pretty much most of the arts we see on Trek are stuff that we already know today 200, 300, 400 before their time and seems like in 400 years there's been nothing new, like Data interested in classical music that we already know etc, even their holoprograms are based on like old stuff like Sherlock Holmes, The Big Goodbye etc. As if it's all that hard to come up with a fictitious novel or song or whatever from say like 2116 or something like that

It mostly attributes 20thC stuff used in the series and movies, but there are a few nuggets in there...go to Memory Alpha, main page (or Portal, as they like to put it) The Arts have a little icon of the mask Data made on the TNG episode Masks.
The only colony I found was the one Tuvok was born on. Vulcanis Lunar Colony.
