*yawn* only just got back - night driving. But, yeah. I was just trying to figure out a way if four-way reproduction could work. If there are 4 genders, then there have to be at least 4 sets of chromosomes. If there are only two, then there's just the normal reproduction in a line/group marriage. Just trying to figure out if four genders was even possible, so as to rule it out as a possibility if not. But... yeah. It's strange. But hey, they're aliens. If you want me to explain it better, ask me again in the morning. I should really go to bed now rather than troll the forums...

The way I wrote Andorians in A Mirror Cracked, I pictured them more like Denobulans - two people to make babies but the quads make half-siblings.

Perhaps the cold weather of Andorian made genetic diversity more difficult, so half-siblings became a way of diversification.

Well there is Shran's line when he's teasing Talas about Phlox falling in love with her... Kindred spirits, perhaps. Frankly I thought the Anear might be one of the four genders, but they don't mix with the general population. Why oh why couldn't they stop at 3 genders? 4 is just too hard.
