Backlash from "The Pegasus" incident.

I'm trying to ask this without giving away too many fun little surprises from my fic, but...
After a quick sequence of events, I wrote Captain Riker into a situation where him, Reginald Barclay, and Tom Paris are being interrogated be a group of section 31 agents in Starfleet security. I'm trying to approach this scene from Riker's perspective (I thought all this damn Pegasus crap was burried - let's get this over with so I can take command of my new ship, etc...).
Unfortunately, the episode doesn't give any information on what happened to Riker after he was taken to the brig at the end. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on what kind of backlash he might have recieved after the incident. It appears he only got a slap on the wrist, but I was wondering if anyone thinks it might have been a factor as to why it took so long to get a ship of his own and what might have happened after the episode ended.
