That's just awesome! 8) I love the Ojibwe name, too. I always wondered what it meant. Thanks for explaining that!

Not giving up my own first name, on account'a it's just uncommon enough to get me into trouble!

Wow. Now that's a classical reference if I ever heard one. Are your parents history buffs or is it a common name in your country?

Not completely common, but hardly uncommon... It is also the name of the first Brazilian to print a newspaper in the 19th century and there was a colleague of mine at University of Sao Paulo who shared the name - we often received crossed calls...

In my case, the name comes from the family origins. It was an habit to have names who repeated each two generations. One of my grandparents had an "Ippolito" as a middle name. My mother done the refining touch.

I like it a lot! I read it in a book recently......hmmmm. Can't remember. ..... It'll come to me.

The phenomenon of "family naming" is why we picked Jane for the girls middle names...no one else had it anywhere in our families! We were afraid to like, take some partisan name and therefore ignite some slew of interfamilial appellative killing games. So: Jane for the first's middle name, and Jane for the 2nd's middle name: voila: instant family tradition. It's the 21st century version of "heritage".... But it worked. No killing games. Other than the barely-muted subdermal ones that boil along quietly for decades, like any 'normal' family has.

Ah. Hippolyte's Island. Knew I'd remember.

(That's a lie. I Googled it.)

Ditto. Love the french form of it though, Éléonore, even more... My mother says if I ever get around to having kids they'll have the strangest names... which is neither here nor there, I suppose.

Gosh, thanks! Its not a popular name at all, I like to think I was named after Eleanor of Acquitaine, but in reality I think it was a name my folks could agree on!

"Ellie" suits you to a T. (or should I say "tea"?)

Course, we should call you DR Ellie. Y'know if I keep spending time with these doctors who are younger than me I'm gonna develop a real complex!

One of my high school buds is now a 29 yr old Ear Nose Throat Specialist (not just a dr, but a dr other drs send people to). And another one is a 29 yr old math phd and another one is a 30 yr old neuroscience phd. And his wife is a 30 yr old lawyer who has passed the Bar exam in Canada AND the USA.

And I'm a dental assistant. lol

Actually, I'm glad. It seems like a lotta work.

lol

I dreamed you and I were hanging out last night Ellie. :)
