I didn't download or install anything, but using the link that Kotik posted I found that on Oct. 5th 2013 there is a new moon i.e. no moon visible.

The reason the link worked for me is probably that I was using a proper browser rather than Microsoft's attempt to turn your desktop into the internet.

Boys boys there's something you have to understand the PC I'm using at this very moment in time is not mine! I can't just download a new browser without permission. I need to check with the owners of this machine!

Mozilla Firefox is quite harmless. It's also far less annoying (and slow) than IE. Whoever owns that machine should thank you for downloading it.

If you're sharing the machine, though, I guess you won't want to use Firefox's password saving feature. That saves me so much time.

Harmless or not, the parents let me live with them rent free and pay big gas bills driving me to and fro to Drs. appointments. I owe them the courtesy. So I'll get permission eventually. My dad who owns this is at work tonight.

Reasonable enough. I have both browsers, but I hardly ever use IE anymore. Once in awhile it still comes in useful (plus I still have a bunch of old bookmarks there).

I often say they're blessed to have me! I found 100$ in the laundry once and gave it back, even though we were allowed to keep anything we found. I was 12 and didn't need 100$ so I never kept anything over a 20$ all parents should be blessed with such a child!

True story, but the last part was sarcastic.

Okay, so the fire department where my folks live has measured 14 inches of rain so far (and it's still raining). They're doing fine, though. My goddaughter's family down in Pasco County had convicts show up to shore up their neighborhood with sandbags, but it may not be enough to keep the pond out of their house.

If you're still using it, and if it's a Windows PC, I recommend that you get yourself your own user account if you haven't already done it. This means that you can set up your own desktop, browser favorites and so on and keep your own documents without interfering with the PC's other users.

Now that might be do-able, although we're thinking about buying a new laptop so I might keep this one, or just take the new one and do as I please.

I take back my rec of Firefox, at least temporarily. I can't get videos to work on it anymore, and trying to uninstall and then update Flash Player is making me insane because it never actually works even though it always claims it has.

Okay.... Good thing I haven't had the technology talk with my dad yet.

Honestly, it's probably a good thing to run both browsers (or even add Chrome to the mix). Some work better for some sites, some for others. But I'd wait until they fix this bug to do it.

Hello again! I'm back from my holiday trip to - among other places - Scotland.

It was really nice and I was very lucky about the weather. No real rain except for one day in Edinburgh. Saw a lot of awesome scenery in the Highlands and the isle of Skye, plus some cool castles. Will post some pictures eventually, once I get them sorted out from my camera.

On Monday I begin working again. Sigh, these five weeks just fly past...
