You won't come across as a drama queen if you say good-bye nicely...You told them you were leaving, so no one is scanning obituaries looking for you. I never heard of netequette, but if that is supposed to be good etiquette, I disagree with it.

I can't tell you how much I agree with you. This is a topic I would not normally comment on but I think it is simple courtesy to say hello (if you plan on participating in the community) or good-bye (if you've been a member of the community).

I used to wonder what happened to some of the Trip & T'Pol authors or heavy participants of the BBS at the House of Tucker and not just because they didn't finish a story. You get to know people and wonder if they're okay.

I can easily imagine someone reducing their online participation for various reasons (like real life, getting tired of the subject matter, or just plain moving on to something else), perhaps gradually and not just "out of the blue". They post less and less and eventually stop without realizing it at first. Then they might think about it after a while but by then it's a bit late coming back just to say "OK, in case you wondered I really left three months ago. Bye!"

I know I did that with a Swedish board a couple of years ago. When I realized I had moved on it just felt awkward to go back.

I hope you, justTripn, never will leave this site. You, in my opinion, are one of the reasons which make this site very, very agreeable.
And this is NOT sycophancy!

Two:
I don't think, KTR, it's awkward to go back so as to greet your friends. I think that is gentle.
Anyway, I hope you don't do that: your comments and your presence are important.

And here is the point.
Each person is a smart brick.
The loss of one brick is the loss of a piece of the board.
Well, surely I am influenced by my personal being-way.
But I believe I am NOT wrong.

justTripn, you talked of burnout. Well, in case it will happen, I think I can be useful: I never said it early, but I am an oncologyst.
