Happy Birthday both, and commiserations for all the presents you must have missed out on as a child. It strikes me as very inconsiderate to make your child have a birthday during the holiday season and miss out on half the presents. I hope that you got some super duper presents to make up for it.

LOL. My family has long ago learned that "one present worth twice as much" just doesn't cut it. And my birthday present better not be wrapped in Christmas paper or they'll never hear the end of it. 
I spent the morning navigating copyright.gov, but I think I finally got my copyright in. I woke up with the first scene of my next book playing in my head, so I plan to spend the rest of the day writing it down before I forget it. Hopefully writing will take my mind off being nearly a half-century old.

You really don't need to copyright your story. It's copyrighted by default when you write it. Next time make the publisher do the annoying paperwork.

Hubby got paranoid that someone would steal it unless I did the paperwork. He's very protective.

On copyrights, everything you create is automatically copyrighted but if it's not registered you can't get the statutory damages but you can still sue for actual damages and profits.
