Yes, those Portugese songs are really catchy. Listen to one yesterday on You Tube and it stayed with me all day.
Love is a verb.

There are other sites where you can put photos, but I like Photobucket because it's free. The bottom line is that to post photos here you need to download them to a website to link to.

Well, belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Silverbullet!
I was actually refering to being able to log in again, but being through some rough times in the past, I am also very glad to be alive.

Seriously, If i'd know, I've had invited you over here. Summer has been AWOL. Last time snowing on May 15th, then a few sunny days until late may and since then 5 weeks of thunderstorms and torrential rain. In fact the rain wrecked a good portion of this years harvest
Re: The Happy News thread
Kotik,
the midwestern US corn crop is in serious peril, my little garden is just my issue. Iowa is losing square miles of corn fields this year. This will affect all food prices. On a cynical note. This years beef prices will be initially lower as more are slaughtered 'cause its more economical than to feed 'em.
We are beginning to see fish kills due to elevated river temps. Now thats a real problem

Re: The Happy News thread
The last days and weeks have been BLEAH!! Dealing with blithering idiots at work and elsewhere, so after a long day of working and posting I decided to get sodding drunk and sing one of my favourite tunes very loudly... (be happy that you don't have to hear it)
Come and join us. Come and join us.
We are the chosen few.
Come and join us. Come and join us
at a Scottish barbecue.
Now, when the charcoal's burnin' fiercely, and the smoke gets in yer eyes,
The steaks all taste like fried toothpaste, and your mooth is full o' flies,
You know you've been accepted. You've joined the chosen few,
When you have been invited tae a scottish barbecue.
Come and join us. Come and join us.
We are the chosen few.
Come and join us. Come and join us
at a Scottish barbecue.
Now, when the summer sun is burnin' in Scotland's happy land,
Round countless fires in strange attires, on many solemn bands
Of unhappy Scotsmen watching their lunch go up in flames,
By the smoke and the smell, you can plainly tell it's barbie time again.
Come and join us. Come and join us.
We are the chosen few.
Come and join us. Come and join us
at a Scottish barbecue.
Now, the English love their roast beef, the French eat snails and frogs,
The Greeks go crackers over their moussakas, and the Chinese love hot dogs.
A Welshman loves to have a leek, the Irish eat their stew,
But you just can't beat that half-cooked meat at a Scottish barbecue.
Come and join us. Come and join us.
We are the chosen few.
Come and join us. Come and join us
at a Scottish barbecue.
Now, there's flies stuck in the butter, the bread has gone brick-hard,
The kids are fightin', and the midges are bitin'. Who forgot the Aeroguard?
There's cinders in your whiskey, and the beer is running out,
And what you saw in Mum's coleslaw you just don't think about.
Come and join us. Come and join us.
We are the chosen few.
Come and join us. Come and join us
at a Scottish barbecue.
And then when the barbie's over, your homeward way you wend.
With a queasy tummy on the family dunny many lonely hours you spend.
You might find yourself reflecting as many others do:
"Come rain or shine, that's the bloody last time I'm goin' to a barbecue."
Come and join us. Come and join us.

Re: The Happy News thread
Scottish and barbecue are just not two words I ever think of together, but perhaps that's the point.
I think it's more than just the Midwestern corn crop at risk. The local fields are shorter and tattier than they should be, too. On the news tonight they said two thirds of the country was in drought. And you really wouldn't want to try to feed any pasture animals on the grass we have in our area right now. I'm also seeing some trees dying, or at least going dormant early. Seems to me the hickory nuts are falling early as well.
