I'm in Savannah, GA for a conference. This morning I went to my hotel's breakfast buffet. There was a huge pan of grits. It made me think of you all.

Yes, I did. I had the grits for breakfast one morning. The next day I had lunch at a restaurant that listed "shrimp and grits" as their Southern specialty. It was very tasty. Last night I ordered a baked potato to go with my fish. The waitress came back a while later and said they were out of baked potatoes. I ended up substituting grits.

All that was fine, but I probably won't have any more grits until the next time I'm down this way.

Have to admit that while I'll nostalgically order grits down there, I never both with them up here.

We listed the house today. I'm exhausted from getting it ready (not that I'm completely done). I just have to finish finding all the paperwork the agent needs. Thank God I switched back from online records with the electric company awhile back, since I have to tally up the last two years of bills and actually still have them. If I had to download that many PDFs I'd be a very unhappy camper.

Interesting article about teleporting:

http://www.scientias.nl/primeur-nederla ... tie/101664

Press the link called "Het werk" in this article and you get an explanation in English. I could have just posted that, but than you would miss a great picture.

BTW: In another article about this research one of the scientist remarks that transporting humans is a bad idea. A human body is far too complex to be transported and can cause serious damage to the human body.

If anyone ever does manage to invent a working teleporter, it should be obligatory for the first subjects to wear dark blue coveralls with red shoulder pads.

I'm sorry to say that neither the Dutch nor the English versions make any sense to me. At least with the Dutch version I have the excuse that I don't speak the language. : )

  What I understand they try to transport diamonts a couple of inches, using their "transporter technology". Pretty small object (but made of the hardest material), but you have to start somewhere. (I have to confess I got most of it from the Dutch version. ;-) )

This version may be a little easier to understand http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/06/02/quantum_teleportation_gets_reliable_at_delft/. Here's the Wikipedia article on quantum teleportation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_teleportation

When they say teleportation, it sounds like they're talking about using quantum entanglement to transfer information, so I'm not sure why they like to use the term "teleportation". Unfortunately you also need a side channel that's transmitted by conventional means to make it work so you can't get FTL communications out of it.

The uses I've seen for this so far are secure communications. We don't know yet how the information moves from one entangled particle to the other so it's untappable so far :-).
