Something cool for those of you writing new Season 5 fic...

Well, glad you don't read decon Warpgirl - wouldn't want you to all over your computer on my account.

Of course, I did appreciate the people who gave my fic a chance instead of dismissing the idea outright. It was nice to see people be open minded. I even won over BlueNBlack - and he initially flamed me over the idea. But I more than understand those who would stay away from a fic because they objected to the premise. That's why we put labels on them.

Seriously, the only reason I wrote that fic was because I had a love/hate thing with the idea.

I actually love the whole Alice K. idea.

Two other could have been amazing ideas: A musical episode (a la Buffy's once more with feeling) and a crossover with Doctor Who. Those are real heartbreakers.

Honeybee did you explain how T'Pol's father could be a Romulan and T'Les didn't know? Being bonded would make that impossible and I would think that as adamant as T'Les was for T'Pol to return home and work for Vulcan she wouldn't have let that go so the Romulan dad idea would have been hard to accept on many levels. That's the first I heard that they were considering making 'future guy' a Romulan. I did that in 'The Journey' part 2 because looking at the silhouette of the figure in future guy scenes I could see what appeared to be the outline of a Vulcan-like ear. And since it made more sense for it to be a Romulan trying to change the future so they could win the war. Not sure I would have liked Shran as part of crew but I would have liked him being around more. And would have definitely liked watching them work towards filling the gaps between Enterprise and TOS. And also would have liked more on the origins of the Borg.

Well, I sort of cheated - I made T'Pol very worried about that question - but she had no way of knowing. I never said in the fic. But, . . . .spoiler alert . . .in the sequel - T'Pol will learn that T'Les knew. . .and the reason she didn't want T'Pol marrying an alien (Trip) was because she didn't want T'Pol to experience the same heartbreak she had.

HB I didn't think I would have forgotten something that big. So T'Les went along with having a Romulan infiltrate Vulcan (most likely the government)? Can't wait to see why. Can understand her reluctance to have T'Pol with a human after that. The whole idea opens up so many questions that I can skip over in a fanfic but don't think I would have been able to if they just skimmed over the details of how that all came about and what the fallout was for all involved on the show.

My mind is just completely blowing over the thought of a musical episode. You mean like singing? Like a MUSICAL???

I don't know if Star Trek could ever carry off that much ... I don't what it is. Temporary suspension of suspension of disbelief?

Well, apparently, the idea of a musical episode came from the Buffy episode, which also aired on UPN. And SB liked the idea, especially since he has a musical background - something that the Buffy cast didn't have and they still managed to pull it off. I think Fringe did a musical recently and some other shows have done it (Chicago Hope did it back in the 1990s).

But the amazing thing about the Buffy musical was that a demon put a spell on the town so everyone would sing their thoughts - so the characters knew it was weird that they were singing. I wonder if Trek could have encountered an anomaly that made them sing. . .or if they would have just had the singing with the suspension of disbelief.

Scrubs did this too, but Scrubs is a comedy. Someone with a brain tumor was hearing everything as a song, or something like that. (I don't pay careful attention to that show; my boys watch too much of it.)

I'm sure SB would have gotten a kick out of it since he sings and dances. I'm having a hard time imagining some of the other cast members going for it, but they are all actors and that's usually part of the drill. Seriously, though -- T'Pol singing? Maybe it would have to be like Singularity and she'd be the one straight man.

(Having to do a solo song performance was definitely the most horrifying part of the acting class I took in college.)

My son is getting involved in theater in high school, having finally accepted that he's not cut out for mechanical drawing and the like. I can't wait to see if he'll actually SING ON STAGE one of these days. He has a great voice but he's painfully shy and almost never uses it. (Except, for some reason, when he and his father do dueling Tom Jones imitations, LOL.)

All fox shows did this week for FOX Rocks sweeps and some work and some not so much. The throw away episodes they did on Enterprise "Twilight' and the MU's were among my least favorites. so their track record for doing that was bad. If they did it in relation to visiting a planet and kept it part of the RU it would all depend on the story. It could work if the cast can actually sing or if they can make it so they're having so much fun and letting go so no one cares if they're in tune.

I one time sang on Stage, grade School, title role in Jhoney Appleseed. Never again.
I have a story in the hands of one Beta that is about songs that Trip might sing to t-Pol. Not sure if Beta will ever edit or relase though.

I wonder if connor had to sing while taking Acting lessons. Or JB.

They could have just done a singing episode without trying to justify it and then have it turn out to be somebody's dream, I suppose. I've seen that done before. Maybe Phlox would dream it during his monthly sleep cycle after watching "Singing in the Rain" on movie night.
