When I met him I shamelessly used my son to start our all-too brief conversation. I was too nervous.
Steven (he was 5 at the time): I'm an engineer!
Connor: Huh?
Me: He wants to be an engineer, like Trip. He thinks Trip is cool (dumb, dumb, dumb)
Connor: Oh, okay (or something like that.)
Can't remember him smelling like anything really.

He did smell good when I hugged him. More like clean shirt and fabric softener than cologne, though, like he'd just had a shower and put on freshly laundered clothes. It was nice. He was lean, too, and muscular. No sponge when I squeezed. That was nice, too.
