What was going on in the 'real' universe while the events of "In a Mirror, Darkly?" were unfolding? Why were the members of Enterprise's senior staff so grumpy about Nathan Samuels' speech at the beginning of "Demons"?

What we didn't know then was that weeks earlier, an intrusion from another universe's dark future had rocked Earth's relations with its key allies, and forced Enterprise to mount a daring mission deep into Tholian space.

This is a canon-friendly general ensemble piece. You can safely assume it will include a strong TnT B-plot, but I'm trying to write a whole episode here instead of just shipping Trip and T'Pol.

When I click on the link for "A Lot of Work to Do" and get past the Decon Warning, Mozilla totally spazzes out (file not found in the status bar, lots of spastic bouncing back and forth). I get there fine with IE9. Weirdness.

Maybe somebody has fixed that link in the meantime, but I didn't have any trouble accessing it with Firefox 8.0. I seem to remember hitting a "redirect" loop in the past after I encountered an HTTP 404 on this site, and maybe that's what happened to Alelou? Anyway, from my point of view it all looks fine now. Especially the story.

If it didn't make sense in the context of that culture, which I happen to believe NONE of us would wish to live in, I would think maybe there's something to that criticism. As it is, I just roll my eyes.

I love the ending to Secrets & Sties - it's an unforeseen twist and definitely twisted. However, it is pretty sure to provoke a reaction from us men.

Definitely agree about the unexpected twists. It's perfectly fitting within the Tellarite culture as we've seen it, too. The young engineer struck me as somebody who would have been ideal to bridge the Tellarite/human cultural gap, because he seemed to have some very human ideals, even though they were abhorrent to the Tellarites around him. I had been quietly hoping that he would end up affiliated with StarFleet, but as it is, it feels as if he'd made a deal with the devil. Because, I'm sure many young Tellarite males would have fantasized about spending their lives in a pleasure sty. But, these wishes always come with a catch. It's a sobering reminder of how disastrous culture clash can be, just as we saw in Cogenitor.
