Trip
In my dreams she touches me,
Her hands are warm, caressing me,
Her lips so eager, kissing me,
But only in my dreams.
When I'm awake, I'll be her friend.
The one she seeks at the day's end
To listen, when she deigns to bend
My ear with her concerns.
It's best this way. She's chosen him.
As well she should, for life is grim
When others threaten life and limb
On seeing us together.
And so I'll settle for her eyes
Fixed on my face in bland surprise
When I say something she finds wise
In an attempt to please.
And if I sometimes look away
To stop the words I want to say
About emotions gone astray...
I'll say them in my dreams.
T'Pol
In my dreams he touches me,
His smile revealing all to me.
His mouth and hands are urging me,
But only in my dreams.
When I'm awake, I must be strong.
To touch him now, I know is wrong,
And so I stand and watch him long
For things that cannot be.
His feelings are an open book
To anyone who cares to look.
He's saddened by the road I took
To serve my duty well.
And so I stand, hands clasped behind,
With logic firmly in my mind,
Denying pain that I will find
When his eyes mesh with mine.
I cannot say the words he needs.
I cannot be the one he leads
To love, no matter how he pleads
With eyes wide in my dreams.

there was a time:
it was so beautiful it could have been a song. it made me cry a little.
"The Foo-ball" is fantastic! It's perfectly Suess-esque and just delightful.
