Re: My First Stitches

Congrats for joining the facial stitch club! You'll be feeling that bump for quite a while (my chin stitches were back in Aug and it still aches to put weight on that spot), but now you get to sport a neat little battle wound!

Re: The Whine thread.

You sound like you've got "Pathological Hypochondriasis", a most distressing disease. During Pathology class in medical school the slightest physical symptom had my classmates and I convinced that we had the disease of the week... and if we had no symptoms it was worse. Do you know how ma...

Re: The Whine thread.

Sometimes I know that my job can make me something of a hypochondriac... After coming home from a business trip last week, I got home and noticed that my shoulder and side of my neck were in pain and my arm had that tingly, fell-asleep-on-it feeling. It's been over a week and it's still there. Soooo...

Re: Books

oh, no... after reading this book, I'm more than positive that I'm a knitter and not a Knitter.

(aside: it's actually pretty funny whether you knit or not. A face off between a knitter and a crazy squirrel intent on stealing her yarn is good no matter what)

Re: Books

Just finished "Yarn Harlot". A very amusing book for any knitter (or non-knitter. Since I just started knitting, I'm not a real "Knitter" yet)

Re: What do you eat at Christmas?

Well, we're Portuguese, so we eat: On Christmas eve: A codfish dish-- usually we make both boiled codfish and potatoes (And greens) that we eat drizzled with olive oil, and another codfish dish (usually made for "the children" and essentially the only codfish dish I could get my american f...

Re: The Whine thread.

Okay, CX... here's a favorite thing to do this time of year if you have time to kill and want to amuse yourself. Go to a store/mall. Park way in the back. Now, walk to the front of the lot and start walking down the aisle as if you're walking back to your car (a bag gives this a more authentic look)...

Re: The Happy News thread

That DOES sound fun! :) It was tons of fun, and I get to go to another one of these events tonight before my company holiday party. I love going to these historic HV events because not only do I get to support the maintainance and continuation of these beautiful old homes and the education that the...
