Re: Trip Wrong?
But none of that made Trip's actions a good idea. What he wanted to do was right. HOW he did it, was wrong. I agree. But that Trip acted this way (a.k.a. immulating Archer's heads on approach) isn't surprising. I think the people on this thread have invested far more thought an effort into understa...

Re: Trip Wrong?
ohhhh... Cogenitor... my nearly most hated episode of the series (only slightly less worse than *the_abomination*) I have so many problems with this botch of an episode, but to clear one thing up: Trip didn't disobeyed any orders given to him, since T'Pol only adivsed him to refrain from intervering...

Re: Trippin’ With “Older T’Pol"
At the end of the episode I believe Archer suggests that the old Enterprise didn't realy exist and the young T'Pol says "then how can we remember it?" Good quexstion. Only way is that the old Enterprise came from a different time line. But in that time line had done the same things that t...

Re: Trippin’ With “Older T’Pol"
worked together well (still using neuro-pressure as an apparent routine) in "Hatchery," Objection! ;) Although it isn't said to 100% certainty, the following lines in the first scene in E² don't make any sense, if they had continued the neuro-pressure treatments: T'POL: You're here for ne...

Re: Trippin’ With “Older T’Pol"
LOL!! Okay the makeup was bad, but she was about 233 years old. Give the girl a break. More like 183 years old (nearly 66 + 117 thrown back in time), but I attribute her appearance to her Pa'Nar-Syndrome since it was - most likely - not cured but the symptoms were treated. On the other hand, I'm ki...

Re: A little love makin’ never hurt anybody, Human or Vulcan
Well, you have to consider that these books are meant for the whole of the series; not just Trip and T'Pol. Therefore the author(s) try to stick to the "essentials" of the relationship. But that doesn't excuse the poor job they are doing with the pages they devote to it! They are redcuing ...

Re: Abandoned stories
If we were talking about borrowing an acquaintance's car if they couldn't be found to get permission from, it would be a no-brainer that one has to assume the answer is no. If we were talking about borrowing a roommate's sweater for a date and you couldn't track them down to ask, most people would ...

Re: "Divergent Paths" Discussion
It's a valid question. To preface, I must admit something that I think pretty much everyone who has interacted with me in the past is already aware of: I have a much less "optimistic" view of the future than Trek espouses, mostly because the approach most Trek takes in regards to us Earth...

Re: "Divergent Paths" Discussion
Well, a question I'd liked to be answered by Rigil would be what's the origin/backround of the MACO group on Enterprise. Because he turned them more into a black ops unit than the "Tactical Assessment Group" we actually saw in the 3rd season (I'm aware of the picture Rigil draws of them in...

Re: Archer as Captain
Yes, but other Treks have seen promotions (and demotions) without change in your job. Paris goes from Lt. to Ensign to Lt. again in VOY all while remaining helmsman. Various others in DS9 have go up a rank but remain in their same jobs... And that's about 200 years into the future. Earth Starfleet ...

Re: Archer as Captain
If they did, though, why was no one ever promoted? Well, there is a possible explanation with even a reason why they'd do something like this: Your rank is fixed to the job you are doing. Meaning: The commander of a ship is Captain, the chief engineer is Commander, the tactical officer is Lieutenan...

Re: Archer as Captain
Exactly! I'm demoting the person with the most experience in space travelling, diplomacy and science on a space ship, because there's a high decorated graduate from West Point, who probably has never left the Sol system. *No Ma'ma* I think you meant ma'am and not mama... But in any cas...

Re: Archer as Captain
But they were taught War. Starfleet wasn't. And that's the point. Archer is unqualified. Even Malcolm says so. It's not so implausible to set up a joint operation. In fact it would have made more sense for Hayes to be Archer's 2IC than T'Pol. She still could have gone along. Exactly! I'm demoting t...

Re: Favourite Bad Guys
I never regarded "the pool of black goo" as a person but far more a 'force in/of nature' and the death of Tasha Yar is an example for misfortune where the results and the way it all takes place doesn't provide it with any sense. That's why I could accept the death of Tasha Yar quite easily...
