Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Oh I got some great fanfic material from THAT!

Also, in the author's 'thank yous' they mention the "legions of Trip and T'Pol fans out there eager to see what the fates (and the authors) have in store for Star Trek's most star-crossed lovers"

I'm sure that Mangels and Martin are 'shippers!
ANd Mengels is a huge bearded "bear-man" so it's great that he's so obviously a shipper

I am only a little over half way through the book, so I am not reading the spoilers. Mostly, I am enjoying it. There are scenes whose descriptions suck you in and only an occassional awkward sentence to irritate.
I'd like to make a couple of spoiler type comments but forgot how to do the spoiler text set up. Can anyone give instructions?

Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Zane Gray wrote:Just finished the book and for my money, I really liked it a lot. It sets up the Romulan War, which is presumably the next book(s), perfectly. It ends with a major never-before-seen moment in Star Trek history, and I'm not talking about the destruction of the Kobayashi Maru, although that appears as well. I'll just give you two little words: "It's begun." Valdore is a great character in this, and Spoek - oh my goodness! Archer even squares off with a Klingon general in a bat'leth flight. The Vulcans seem to have more secrets. And there's a cool technological development by the Rommies - a new weapon - and I think it's going to eventually lead to something from Star Trek II: prefex codes. It's a darn good read, if you ask me. If you liked the last book, this one raises the stakes considerably.
I finished this book last week, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. And I completely agree with your assessment of the ending. Aye, unlike TGTMD, the ending in KM left this lad eagerly anticipating the next one. I thought it was excellent the way they answered a bunch of questions but left so many more open. It was engaging. And I was not disappointed with the TnT, at all.
I would enjoying discussing actual scenes and dialogue with anyone who is interested.

SPOILER!!!:
Almost finished with the book - a hundred more pages to go. I am enjoying it - almost as much as the fan fiction on Triaxian Silk. One thing that bothers me stands out. Why would there be only a Human settled world that is applying for Coalition membership? The other three founding worlds had been space faring long before Earth was. They all must have well settled colony worlds before we did. So why weren't THOSE worlds applying for Coalition membership? Or if they hadn't applied already, why wasn't it brought up that they should also apply to balance the Human world(s) applying for membership? That really grates on my nerves.
Oh, I liked the use that Trip and T'Pol put a Romulan shuttlecraft to.

I agree with you, Linda.
SPOILER!!!:
I noticed the same thing, but figured the writers didn't want to have to flesh out more description, etc, for new colonies. Also, maybe they didn't want to make the Coalition even more unstable than it already was and was becoming. Not sure, really, but I dinna let it spoil the rest of the book for me.
The next comment spoils after page 300.
SPOILER!!!:
One thing that did annoy me was when they used the time-honored-ENT-overused-bring TnT together-then tear them apart-plot. And I'm not referring to Trip having to stay undercover and T'Pol and Malcolm leaving him there. I'm specifically referring to the little scene where T'Pol had a panic attack-lette, thinking she may have disrupted Trip's mission. The whole scene is self-pitying and wasted. I did not like what they did with T'Pol there. I did like how they wrote Trip in that scene. It was very mature. T'Pol...not so much. After finishing the book, it was like...let's throw some angst in there before we give them the TnT goodness.
Anyone else have a comment about that scene? Am I the only one who thought it was a tad "off?"

Re: Print T/T'P Update: Kobayashi Maru book now available
Hey, Eian, yeah, T'Pol was a tad off.
SPOILER!!!:
They have somewhat degraded her character in canon and now in non canon. She IS a Vulcan and disciplined in logic. Yes she does have emotions but she wouldn't indulge in them THAT much, IMHO. But certainly she is capable of a good role-in-the-hay in a Romulan shuttle.
One thing that almost spoiled an otherwise very good book for me, was T'Pol and Reed, senior officers, going AWOL just before Enterprise goes into action. Geez, do ya know what would happen to military officers who did that in any military organization? In time of war, they very well could be shot. I just don't buy them doing that and Archer returning them to duty as if nothing had happened! They would have been in the brig and that would have been the end of their military careers. They probably would also have jail time. With all the creativity shown in this novel, you would think the authors could come up with a more plausible plot point for getting T'Pol and Malcolm into Romulan space to help Trip.
Other than my two major objections, I am enjoying the book. It is fast paced, lots of plot twists, great descriptions, many pieces of humor. Anyone notice the use of the term 'flux capacitor' on page 394, a term used in the movie "Back to the Future"? It was what made time travel possible in the Delorian car.

Re: Print T/T'P Update: Kobayashi Maru book now available
Finished the book. Several things are left hanging so I presume there will be a sequel. By the time a sequel comes out, I will have forgotten the points left hanging. The two main criticisms I had in my earlier spoiler boxes still hold. But the book WAS a good read. The action moved quickly with many plot twists attached. I did not get bored. The descriptions, especially of explosions, were good. Also the humor carried me along.
SPOILER!!!:
I did think the Klingon gay couple was gratuitous, just an add for the purpose of saying "we're here and we're queer - hey gay people exist here on earth and they should be in the ST universe too". As long as a gay couple was put in, I would have liked to see their characters developed more - flesh them out, give them more than a 'walk on' part.
