I believe it was the fact that T'Pol had much more intense feelings (She was in love but had no frame of reference for the feelings) after and that scared the hell out of her and Trip must have to. or why stick around? It should have also served to strengthen their bond, which I have already stated I be to be a psychic representation of the love between mates for Vulcans (LOVE). Doesn't matter if you hear the words it is what it is. I lived with a guy for ten years and he never said the words but effectively communicated his feelings in other ways. And to tell you the truth I rather liked that he showed it rather than said it.

What a terrifying way to live. My great Italian grandparents, and my Italian Grandfather (mother's side) and my Italian Grandmother (father's side) don't think like that. Really I'm scared now. Anyway back to TnT I always thought Trip was a little empathic himself, probably why T'Pol bonded with him easily, when Sarek had a hard time with both his human wives.

Declaring love and being in love are two different things though.

It only means they haven't told the one they are in love with, it doesn't mean they can't feel it and show it in other ways. You can express something you don't totally understand yet and sometimes we stay quiet because it's easier than actually saying the words outloud. Less scary. Less able to bring about hurt. It's not true but it's easy for some people to convince themselves of that.
