A nice article, yes, but I am still miffed about her "former" attitude. Writer's personal fantasy? What the heck does THAT mean? Doesn't all creative writing involve a writer's personal fantasy or personal nightmare? Doesn't it all come from personal experience and observation of life or inspiration of other author's characters which is in turn based on their experience of reading still other author's work and experience of life? How egotistical of a teacher of literature to make a judgement of fan fiction as the lowest of the low in the literary world! Fan fiction has the same span of poor to excellence in writing as work that an author has been paid for.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.
