T'Pol's Un-Vulcan Like Behavior

Is there some rule against double posting? (If so, I have remained blessedly oblivious to it.)

I think it's just considered impolite. I guess it prevents a thread from being dominated by one person. I never pay much attention to it. But then, if my double posts are really close together in time I usually just edit the one I just did, and if they're really far apart I figure nobody's interested in the last thing I had to say so I might as well say something else.

Two in a row at most communities is usually tolerated, as long as you don't make a habit of it. Sometimes it's even necessary, I think, if you're replying to two different posts by different people, and the subject matter is kind of dissimilar even though both are on-topic.

Been thinking (dangerous) in Breaking the Ice T-Pol had some very unvulcan behavior. She Asked Trip what to do about her Letter. She later said it was vulcan Tradition, etc. Why should she ask a Human what to do?

I've always thought that since Trip had already read the letter, he was the only person on board she wouldn't have to explain the letter to before she asked them for advice. In other words, she was desperate to figure out what to do and had no one else to talk to, but the fewer people who knew about her predicament the better. I think that if she was going to ask anybody for advice, it was logical to ask the only person on board who knew about the situation to begin with. Why ask a Human? Well, aside from Phlox, who knew nothing about her situation, Humans were the only option available. I probably would have gone to the doctor, myself, though. More private.

Agree that if she chose to confide in anyone on Board it should have been Phloxz.

Still this is supposed to bea veery private Vulcan affair. Vulcans don't as a rule discuss anything to do with marriage, Tradtions about Marriage, Ponn Farr which is an offshoot of marriage. So it seems that T-Pol would be reluctant to speak with anyone about this. In addition it is her decision, Her bethrothal, her marriagfe plans. She is given an
either/or by the parents of Koss either leave Enterprise and marry Koss or the thing
is off. How far off is debateable. I always believed that when she failed to leave Ebgerprise the parents broke the Behtrothal and looked around for another Bride. But in Home that doesn't seem to be the case although T-Pol seeems to belive the behtrothal has been broken.

True Trip read the letter but why bring him in to discuss it. It was her decison and hers alone. She was a grown woman who had her own mind why should she ask a Human what to do that was vulcan Traiditon.

If, on the hother hand, she wanted Trip to help make the decision she really favored then I can see it.

I'm a grown woman and I often find it helpful to discuss personal decisions with someone if only to say things out loud as it seems to help clarify things much better. Asking Trip kept what should have been private business as private as possible. When Phlox suggested she talk it over with someone I felt as if Trip hadn't already read the letter she might have talked to Phlox. Why risk telling someone else if she didn't have to?

There was only a person she would ask for advice.
And she knew, or rather, perceived who this person was.

It's pretty obvious that T'Pol chose Trip because he already knew the content of the letter, no other reason. She didn't want to experience the indignity of explaining it to someone else, plus being a pretty private person, the fewer people who knew, the better. The damage was already done with Trip, so she just ran with that.

To tell you the honest truth, that whole thing felt a bit like a heavy-handed writerly ploy to me. I can't imagine T'Pol actually deciding to confide in Trip about that at that point, even with Phlox's convenient advice. But I was happy enough to go along with it anyway...

I think it would have made more sense for Trip to push a little about what he'd read in the letter ... "So I guess you're leaving us, huh?" and then get to the conversation that way.

Alelou, you may be right. However the look on T-Pol's face whe Triip said that she just time to Pack told me that she had not made up her mind until he said that. It may have pushed her to the decision to stay.

Still would LOVE to know what that slice of Peacn Pie meant. Since it was on screen for a while with her staring at it. The Pie had some meaning for the future.

Have heard that it was Planed from the git go that trip and T-Pol would be a couple although not decided how much of a couple they would be. Archer would just be a good friend.

Personally I think that by then she would have at least had to decide NOT to decide.

I think the pie can simply be interpreted as T'Pol becoming a little more open to this human thing, rather than Trip in particular, though it's nice to think it's that too.

And I don't see how they could have filmed that decon scene the way they did if they weren't thinking all along of fostering at least some Unresolved Sexual Tension between these two. Although B&B do also discuss during their commentary on Broken Bow (about TnT arguing on the bridge) that sometimes the chemistry between two actors is simply impossible to ignore, and that you can never really predict that ahead of time.

The actors and the Characters had chemistry to burn. Not sure that I have seen many TV couples with that.

CT and JB were natural for each other. Like William Powell and Myrna Loy. They clicked.

Of course we don't know what relationship the Actors really had. I remeber Bruce willis and the blonde whose name I can never remember. Chemistry by the gallon and hated one another.

Still, I agree with the writers of Kobashi Maru. "thanks to Jolene Blalock and Connner trinnier for birnging Trip and T-Pol to life."
