Alas, yes. Totally futile ... though I do continue to try. Call it an instinct toward order. Cool

T'Pol to Trip: “Ambassador Soval tells me that Humans are capable of dealing with Vulcan emotions. He is in a position to know.”
That's in Say Not the Struggle Naught Availeth, Jan. 2007

In regards to Sarek in TNG, who's to say that Human emotions mightn't have far-reaching effects if we had telepathic powers? In fact, you can see one human's emotions impact the emotions of those around him, even without telepathy.

Spock: Logic is a tweeting bird chirping in a meadow. Logic is a wreath of pretty flowers that smell bad. (I can't help it - this is one of my all-time favorites)

With respect, a fanfic simply doesn't have the same weight as an actual episode. Having read the MA entry about Sarek, I have to say that it clearly intimates to me that Vulcan emotions are much, much more intense than normal human emotion.

I will admit that my ... disappointment with that particular fic might color my opinion somewhat, but discarding canon in something as so central to the Vulcan identity simply doesn't work for me.

Parts of it. I had severe problems buying into the Archer/T'Pol angle from the previous fics (mostly because of my well documented dislike and disdain for that entire "ship"), as well as the Cole/Soval thing (which, frankly, only makes sense to me in that AU). The female pon farr nonsense was also hard to stomach.

There is an episode of TNG and an episode of VOY that say so, so it's canon.

vulcan emotions are stronger yes, but what was happening to sarek was even stronger due to the effects of the illness.

and vulcans are capable of broadcasting..
the crew of the intrepid did enmass when they died.
spock was able to do a jedi mind trick of tricking a guard to come into a room in one episode.
now it was the only time we saw it. perhaps it is too dangerous for a vulcan to do that often.

we also know vulcans even before pon farr seem to mature.
spock evidently was in love with leila in the past.

it could be that they are sexually mature but the full sprung drive dosnt hit until later.

I actually remember reading a fic about a Vulcan family raise a human child....or maybe it was a vulcan/human bonding?

Can't quite remember....it's been awhile since I read it.

I do however remember the charactors name.....it was Helen.

T'Sara: going looking for the story you mentioned. Every little bit helps.
