I was thinking, Trip was lucky to get out of Harbinger alive. He had a Red shiert on and that is the kiss of death in Star Trek. Red shirt syndrome from TOS. Red Shirt guy always got it.

It is my belief that Trip is too much of a gentleman to just jump her bones like that and even on Trellium she wouldn't have blatantly offered herself like that, but its's only my opinion.

I don't think there is a lot of fic's on Harbinger that shows the akwardness of the situation. I mean, Trip is really stunned when he sees T'Pol. Shocked. I can imagine that he really feels akward.

OK My whole problem is the fact that people seem to be saying that because Trip is a guy, and because he likes/loves T'Pol that means he automatically MUST jump her when she offers. Ummmm WHY? It's rediculous! Everytime the subject of Harbinger comes up the reasoning is stated over and over again. I'm sorry but I find it to be poor reasoning.

Guys may say it s a guy thing but women enjoy sex just as much and can be just as aggressive. The reasoning is that he enjoys sex, he really likes T'Pol,, she's jealous, their little banter back and forth, she kisses him then gets naked, and the fact that she's a Vulcan and this is not normal behavior for her would tend to make him think she knew exactly what she was doing and what she wanted so he'd have no objection. As far as he knows this might mean she wants a relationship with him seeing as Vulcans are known for being forward and he's not going to stop and ask when she's so obviously has other things in mind. Doesn't seem unreasonable to many of us.

OK I get that. But I still find it arbitrary and not to mention a little sterotypical. I guess my thing is that T'Pol is a virgin at that point and it doesn't take a lot of insight into Vulcan ritual to realize that. The whole thing seemed rushed and forced in a way that you could see it turning into a disaster if you looked objectively.

She's also an adult and a scientist who's familiar with humans, who has accused him of messing around with aliens, is being the aggressor, and ought to know what she's doing. Not to mention she's been quietly romancing him with candles and massages for months by then.

But yeah, obviously the seeds of disaster are there anyway. There are in ANY relationship, and these two even have to WORK together. However, I think there's a fundamental level of trust between them that does, in fact, keep this from becoming utterly disastrous even after she tells him she was just exploring. That undoubtedly hurt Trip, but he remains professional with her. At core, their relationship is much more than just sexual, and actually for awhile there that sex looked like it was going to be a weird ratings-oriented hiccup.
