Although this chapter is mild, this story requires a heavy NC-17 warning for future explicit sex and violence including rape. It's also still a work in progress, God help me.

Another chapter is up: The Locum - Chapter Three (NC-17)

Since the comments indicated the rape hadn't happened yet, I went ahead and read all three parts posted so far. This seems to me one of those stories that screams for at least one or two prequels once it is complete.

I find it really jarring just how open TnT are with Kendra (who is a complete stranger they just met at the beginning of the story) about supposedly intimate and private details they never shared with anyone (even each other) during season four. I have to keep reminding myself that this story is set a year after Terra Prime and that people change. I'm also curious how she knows so much about Vulcan mating practices when both T'Pol and Spock said they weren't discussed with outsiders and neither Phlox nor Bones seemed to know anything until told.

I find myself wondering what happened in the interrim to cause TnT to change so much and how Kendra knows stuff that Human doctors aren't supposed to know. There have to be some interesting prequel story ideas here...

There may be prequel ideas, but I don't know how interesting they are. I guess I assume people wouldn't necessarily hide stuff from a doctor, especially when it relates to their treatment, and especially if they are things that are bothering them that they may not feel free to discuss with anyone else. Let's assume that the idea of doctor-patient confidentiality is still around, anyway. And in T'Pol's case, she might be motivated at least at first by a sense of territoriality. I figure Kendra, once she investigates, would know at least as much as Phlox would know, from accessing the medical records, and perhaps more since she's gone looking (though she notes that it's not easy). She doesn't really know all that much, though.

This is technically pon farr fic, I guess. I'm playing off that hidebound fanfic tradition (bond fic too) but I have my own take on it, which isn't pretty but on the other hand may also not be as ugly as some people think it should be.

Well this has been a sucky week so I haven't had much time for reading, but as soon as I settle down a bit, this will be one of the first things I read. I can accept the fact that sometimes things don't make sense at first and be patient enough to wait for it to come clear later on. If you tell too many details right out of the gate, stories get so spoon-feedy and that's just no fun.
