Re: Status and Support
Thanks for the input, Alelou. Yes, it's scifi. I'll have to spend some time doing all that stuff now before things get busy again in the fall and I have no free time.
The only problem with that plan is I'll have no time left to write the next book, but I guess that won't matter much if no one wants the first one.
And Cogito, I appreciate the support, but I'm not even gonna try with Lerteiran. It violates canon according the the powers that be. It'll never fly, unfortunately.

Re: Status and Support
It takes a lot of effort to start it up, but once you have the site in place and a few other things, you could probably just budget 15 minutes a day to maintain it. Writing is still the most important thing you need to do. Sometimes it's the second book that breaks out.
OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Re: Status and Support
Just sent in a four page full synopsis of my novel. The darn thing was surprisingly difficult to write. Fortunately, I was on vacation the last 4 days, so it's all done. Everybody cross fingers and toes. Prayer candles, votive incense, saints' intercession, and any assorted good luck wishes or incantations of your choice would also be greatly appreciated...

Hope it works out for you! Now start building your platform (or writing the next book) while you wait.

Re: Status and Support
Congrats, Dis. Hope you get published and your book takes off. Just remember the importance of a good title! For example, if you saw my work in the bookstore:
Convicted, by Transwarp
You might take a pass. But if you saw:
Convicted, by Stephen King
why, you'd probably buy it!
Speaking of Convicted, I just put chapter nine to bed. You should be seeing it soon.
Enjoy!

Sometimes writing is like pulling your own teeth. I know what i want to have happen in the next couple of chapters but when I actually try to write it, it keeps coming out flat. I guess I'm just going to try to put it all down and then go back and edit like mad.
Kind of funny since I identify more as a "science fiction author" but the character development or funny chapters are usually easier for me to write.

I have a different problem. Sometimes the words just flow onto the page, and they are BRILLIANT and I think, "Wow this is good!"
But overnight, someone breaks into my house, opens my document, and rewrites it, and the next morning when I read it I think, "Wow this is crap!"
I'd change my password, but I'm afraid I'd forget it.
Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.

Damn, I must have an intruder, too.
You can tell the pros from the amateurs by how wedded they are to their first drafts.

Re: Status and Support
I just discovered this conversation; it seems I am kinda slow at things. I am so glad others at Triaxian Silk are venturing out into non-fan fic writing! I have only taken tiny tentative steps in that direction. Even retired (mostly) other things seem to get in he way like helping support my daugther and son-in-law, being heavily involved (paying for and escorting to) my grand kids' extra-curricular activities, volunteering at my grand kids' school, and working at the YMCA. Did I say 'retired'? Oh, well. But I need to make time for what pleases me, like writing and reading other people's writing. So I am trying to get back into reading as much as I can here on Triaxian Silk and I really want to get on with reading what friends here have written that gets published. How exciting!
One thing I am curious about is that a few people that post stories on Triaxian Silk seem to hit and run. I mean, they post stories but don't enter into any forum conversations and don't leave comments on other people's stories on this site. Of course I know the majority of readers never leave comments, but hey, I think it is important to support your fellow fan fiction writers with helpful comments. But then, I have been uneven in my attendance here, so who am I to talk? Oh well, just had to get this thought out anyway. Peace.

Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Re: Status and Support
Conversation and reviewing will ultimately get you more reviews in the end. But I know I'm waaaaay behind. I just have too much going on in RL right now.

Re: Status and Support
Oh dear, I wasn't speaking of my own stories at all! I just noticed as I was leaving reviews for other peoples' stories that a few of our story posters never leave reviews for anyone on Triaxian Silk, even though they seem to get reviews themselves. I was not soliciting for reviews personally, at all. I feel so embarrassed now.
