Save your old poetry

Postby justTripn » Wed Dec 27, 2006 12:50 am

Just a suggestion. I think all you poetry writers should go get your T 'n T poems off the HoT poetry forum topic thread and submitt them to "How Do I Love Thee?" Poetry is meant to be reread.

Okay.

What format do you want us to use, Elessar? Do we do the rating and disclaimer and all that, just like a story?

It's done. I've submitted the poem that I started the thread with last year. Since Linda had already submitted a Vulcan love poem, I also found one of mine in a similar vein.

For those of you who may have missed it, the HoT poetry thread has been running for almost a year now. The way we've done it is with a variety of poetry games. I'm wondering if perhaps there are other poets out there who'd like to join the games. To that end, I'll be posting poems at intervals, and guidelines here for the game that prompted each poem. These are meant to provide inspiration, and are not "challenges" per se. If one of our games gives someone an idea which results in a new poem for all of us to enjoy, then it will have done its job.

"The Declared One's Lament"that I've just posted was written in response to the following idea: Write a Vulcan love poem in any style without actually using the word "love".

Anyone else want to give it a try? I'd like to invite our other poetry thread writers to resurrect their poems as well. Let's show everyone what we've been up to. Very Happy

Hey D - thanx, great idea. I went and copied over 4 or 5 TnT poems I had written over the past several months in the poetry thread at HoT. I'll post them soon as I get the chance Wink

Sounds like fun! Let everybody know, okay? I don't think anyone's found this thread yet.

Looks like Elessar has posted two of his imitation poems... the poetry thread version of the "Sincerest Form of Flattery" challenge. I'll find a couple of mine... but y'all are gonna have to guess who I'm trying to imitate. Twisted Evil

Well, some of my poems (if you can dignify them with that name) were just semi-illiterate experiments and spontaneous fun. Just going for a bounce in the laugh meter among friends. But I will look them over. Looking back from a distance, maybe there is a viable grain or two among the chaff.

I know exactly what you mean, Linda. Maybe someone can give me a new idea. Any new games come to mind?

NEW games? Jeez. I think we've done every poetry style in the English language and covered every subject even remotely Star Trek related. Hmmm.

How about this. Pick your favorite episode and do a poem about TnT from some OTHER character's point of view, any style. Then we have to guess who's POV you're doing. Anybody? (You can't post it here, now. You've got to put it in the poetry archive.)

I'm such a pain, aren't I? Let me think on this one and I'll see what I can come up with.

Well, we've got some entries up now. Is anyone else having trouble with comments? I posted my guess for Linda's and it duplicate posted on Bether's (Yes, Bether... I realize that your POV was not Malcolm.) It's weird.

Anyway, I thought it was Archer, given that I think Malcolm would pair with Hoshi. But I see your point "Maybe a stray bullet..."

The reference to the "other Enterprise" cinched it for me. Malcolm didn't marry on E2, remember?
