Fanfic Recs
Oldtimers probably already know this, but at ff.net I discovered an author named bluedana who has some wonderful fics -- they are Archer-centric for the most part but completely TnT-friendly. HER Archer I really like. Anyway, "Strange Love a Star Woman Teaches" is an excellent E2 saga (only thing I don't love is the title) -- worth reading for the TnT in it even if you're not into Archer. And she has another one set between Hatchery and Azati Prime that is full of action and angst. Great stuff.
OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

I have read those. Worth checking out.

Re: Fanfic Recs
I love bluedana's work. It's rich and thoughtful and has a lovely style. She's done comedy, drama, angst, tragedy, suspense, horror, and all of it well. And she writes a wonderful Archer.
One of her shorter stories is Bonnie and Clyde in Detroit, 2004, which is a great read.
The other story Alelou mentioned is Human Voices Wake Us, And We Drown. Very powerful.
And another that just totally blew me away was A Lesson in Breathing.

She's good, all right.
Strange love is my favorite.
Sometimes, in the middle of breaking your heart, there are these sweet little nuggets.Like this one from Breathing:
He awoke to a dim room and a warm, wet sensation on his face. He knew that kiss. He opened his eyes to find his beagle staring balefully at him. Hoshi held him, squirming in her arms, just next to his master’s cheek. The dog licked his jaw, his forehead, his eyelids, whining softly. “Hey,” Archer said on an exhalation, smiling.
“He’s been asking for you, sir,” Hoshi explained sheepishly. “I speak beagle pretty fluently now, and he told me he wanted to see you. He misses you.” She valiantly fought to keep her face composed. “I brought you something else, too, sir.” Placing the dog gently on the floor, she rolled a small portable table, one that the doctor used to hold his trays of instruments, over to the bed. There was a computer monitor on it. She flipped a switch, and the screen was filled with stars. To an eye less practiced than his, there seemed to be no movement, but he knew better. “It’s the view from your Ready Room window,” she said. “It was Travis’ idea.”

It's flavored with passionfruit
an appropriate ingredient, don't you think?

Oh, you're gonna make me all weepy again... I was such a mess by the time I finished this story. So heartfelt, so beautifully done.

Queen of angst, no lie.

It's from the original lyrics!!! I love them! They're written by Gene R. himself, and I think, really set the tone of the show....

Beyond the rim of the starlight,
My love is wand'ring in starflight.
I know he'll find in star-clustered reaches, love,
Strange love a star-woman teaches.
I know his journey ends never;
His star trek will go on forever.
But tell him while he wanders his starry sea,
Remember, remember me.

I've always thought that Archer had so much more potential (in fanfic and the show) but particularly in fanfic to be much more than just a punching bag, I just have never had the time to explore it myself.
I made him kind of a cool guy in 'Just the Two of Us', but he wasn't the main focus, and it was more in the accounts of his deeds during the Romulan War that I drummed him up rather than in his actions as they unfolded.
