January '09 Word Prompt!

DON'T PANIC!
There are still a couple days of December left. Even if you haven't finished your December idea by the 31st, so what? It's never too late!
In the meantime, though, for those who've either put their December piece to bed already, or just weren't inspired by the last word, I thought I'd go ahead and post the next one. It still works the same way as before: write something about Trip and/or T'Pol inspired by the word I give you. There are no minimum or maximum word counts. You do not have to specifically include the word in your piece, but the inspiration from the word should be clear. You can post the result here, or if it's kind of lengthy or pushing into adult material, I think the mods prefer that you submit it through regular channels for archival--if in doubt, ask them.
So what we're about to do is an exercise in extremes. Last month was "whisper."
This month is:
SCREAMDo with it what you will.

Sure. The first one was a girly scream, the second one a manly howl. You can also scream a word: NOOOOOOOOO!

Overheard:
There Goes The Neighborhood
Ahh…the suns have set, and T’Khut has risen, huge in her troubled beauty. The evening breeze blows fresh and cool. After the day’s responsibilities have been discharged, how pleasant it is to sit in one’s own garden and sink into the peace of…
Surak! What is that sound? The scream of a wounded sehlat? The shriek of a dying
Le-Matya? We must organize a search immediately, for such animals are dangerous, and there are many children in this area.
No, wait…now the voice of a young girl.
“Da-dee! This torrr-ture!”
It must be the husband of my neighbor, playing his bizarre music instrument. What did T’Pol say it was called? Oh yes…
“Listen, baby girl – if you don’t wanna do yer homework, you’ll get harmonica lessons.”
Really, I must protest. Meditation is becoming impossible.

evcake, that was so cute. I wonder why Trip's neighbor doesn't appreciate good music.

BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHH!!

Priceless.
(For some reason I had a flashback to Sharon Osbourne chucking a whole ham over the fence at her loud neighbors!)

That is awesome, evcake! It's quite Vulcan, and an interesting perspective of what changes having a human neighbor might bring to the neighborhood.

That was fantastic evcake! You managed to pack a lot of humor into something so short, and that's really impressive.

I just submitted my "scream" response to TPTB here at T/S. It's going straight to the Decon Chamber.

OK Because my sister's sister-in-law just had a baby this week, a friend of mine is pregnant, and a friend's cousin is also pregnant here is my answer for scream.
The first time Trip had been in a delivery room, his little sister Lizzy was being born. He was in a state-of-the-art Florida Med Center, where the room had been warm on a winter's night. His mother had been laying in a comfortable bed, surrounded by the most advanced technology available, with staff buzzing around her like bees in a hive. His father was there holding her hand, and his older brother and sister were making sure he didn't leave his small chair in the large room. But most of all he remembered the screaming. Now his mother despite her very Irish heritage was the serene member of his family. He could only remember her raising her voice in anger once in his entire life. And that was when his brother Liam set himself on fire when he used lighter fluid to ignite the BBQ. The woman in that nice bed was screaming, yelling, and using words that would make his father skin him alive if he ever spoke them. Obviously having a baby made you insane, why had his mother gone through it three times? More to the point, why was his mother doing it again? Finally he fell asleep even with the screaming, just being there was exhausting. He had decided this little sister of his was already very annoying because she was coming early. If she had just waited like she was supposed too he and Liam and Maeve would be in Dublin with Grams and Grand-Da. Not here listening to mama scream. He woke to his father shaking him awake, and was startled to find his mother had stopped screaming. Looking over by the bed he saw his brother and his sister sitting on the bed with a pink bundle between them. Slowly he got up and made his way over, his mama smiled and told him to sit so he could hold Lizzy. Trip did as he was told, and the baby was gently put into his arms supported by his mother. All of the sudden a pair of blue eyes opened, they locked with his for a moment, and Trip was transfixed. The moment ended when a rosy little mouth opened and let out a wail that could beak glass. Trip's only thought was, 'I thought mama was bad, this girl screams like a banshee!'
My sister's other sister-in-law (who is like my sister) and lives down here, brought pictures of the new baby. One of them had her three year old brother holding her. That inspired this.
