I just rewatched my copy of The Day the Earth Stood Still last night. The movie was made in the 1950s. Again, I was impressed by the advanced depiction of the interior of the alien ship. There were controls activated by passing your hand over a sensor in the doors and on the control panel where Klaatu set up the electrical stoppage that effected the entire planet. In the later 1960s, Star Trek TOS had buttons to depress and even toggle switches. I wish they had done a sequel to The Day the Earth Stood Still! I liked both the actors and the technology.

What did you think of HR Giger's ship interiors?

Even the NX-01 looks more modern inside, which is to be expected with the dates of production, but canonistically (that probably isn't a word, but anyway) it makes no sense.

Then we have the Tardis...

And this, from TNG, I think. The "clicking" aliens who experimented on the Enterprise crew.
