Re: "Guess Who" Drabble Challenge
Compared to the last one, this one is ridiculously easy, but here goes. What is the species of the narrator and what episode is it from?
Intelligence is the primary criterion for sentience. Or at least so my people have believed for millennia, until today. These humans, they are reasonably intelligent, I must admit, but their intelligence is not what sets them apart. I have studied literally thousands of species with a greater capacity for reason. Instead, their uniqueness lies in a characteristic that my counterpart considers a weakness. He is wrong. Compassion is a strength. I am convinced of it. The capacity for self-sacrifice and its attendant societal benefits are what identify a superior species. Eventually, with sufficient study, I hope to prove my hypothesis.

The Episode is Congenitor. The rest I cannot remember unless I cheat and look it up.

Argh! ARGH! I can't remember the name! They were the ones watching Trip and Hoshi die from the silicate virus. Organians, or something like that? Knowing my memory, that's probably a name from a completely different continuity.

Cogito Hence the links with the lists! So using my cheats (Because I have yet to see that episode) I could look it up and go next. But... I'm sleep deprived. So I won't. I think you should go next anyway.

Yes, that sounds right. So that's my answer: Organians, in Observer Effect. Good effort, team!

Re: "Guess Who" Drabble Challenge
Okay can I just say that over in the SW's corner of the web they look down on us Trekkies because we use intelligence to describe sentient life. They insist the this is incorrect. That sentience is the ability to feel pain. The word we should use (they say) is sapience to describe a spieces with intelligent thought and the ability to reason. Honestly, I'm not sure which is correct. I do know that I tend to use sapient over sentient when describing alien men and women.
Dis' beautiful drabble just made me think of it.

Re: "Guess Who" Drabble Challenge
Well, this is awkward. I have the makings of a drabble here, but I can't seem to pin it down to an episode. So I'm not sure it will work as a challenge entry.

I don't remember the rules saying you must have a specific episode. there are at least a dozen in the thread already without one.

Re: "Guess Who" Drabble Challenge
Well, here is my attempt. The link to an episode is tenuous, but that is not the point of this drabble. And of course you will already know who this person is thinking about. No, the challenge here is to tell who the narrator is. For extra brownie points, justify your answer to show that it isn't just a wild guess.
I noticed. You have to, in my line of work. You could almost say it's in the blood. Who's talking to whom. More importantly, who isn't. I suspect I was the first to see it. Certainly before either of them did.
She frowns when he sits at her table without being invited – but saves her meal until he's there. He shouts at the “impossible Vulcan who won't admit she's wrong”, but still nags her to watch his film.
And when either has a problem, where do they go?
So of course I noticed. How could you miss it?

Re: "Guess Who" Drabble Challenge
I actually can think of an episode that it ties into. Very well done my friend! And I'm going to keep nagging you for a real story because you write such great reviews, and even better drabbles, and you should share more with us.

Re: "Guess Who" Drabble Challenge
I like this because there are actually 4 Options that would work brilliantly.
The first and most obvious is,
because of his cultural upbringing and scientific background, and that would tie into that episode where he tries to get her to try human food and does his anthropolgy oral report on observing the crew. And if it's him than BRAVO!
But you used a very interesting combination of sentences.
And these could apply to three other people in an interesting way.
1.
As a former covert operative (the word spy is so innacurate) he's trained to observe actions, and relationships between the people surrounding him. And as this story quite clearly conveyed TnT's actions point to their relationship, not the portray to each other.
2.
She's a natural genius with communication both spoken and unspoken, and in a perfect postion as an observer.
3.
This is pretty much because of being brought up as a Boomer. When your entire community for your entire life is confined to a ship, you learn how to keep observent of what's going on in your community. It's a part of your psyche, almost a survival instinct.
Can you tell I'd never survive on a submarine, or any other vessle?
Anyway whoever it is. It's just beautiful.
