*double post*

Panyasan has informed me that she is currently swamped and has requested that I take this round, so...

I’m a person, not an “it”. I know this is true, even though Master and Mistress like to pretend not. They can’t help it. It’s how they were raised. But they feed me well, and pat my head when I please them.

I’m helping them make a baby. Babies are very important—at least they are when they aren’t born like me.

Now I’ve heard things, seen things, tasted things, and felt things I never imagined existed--and they don’t exist anymore, not for me.

If being a person is such a good thing, why does it hurt so much?

Well done Dis! I thought (except for the Master and Mistress bit) it could also have been Sim as he was growing up.

Was I wrong. Should have read it more closely. Go WG. If your next drabble is as good as your Porthos one I really look forward to reading it.

Yeah well this line made it a little obvious...
I’m helping them make a baby. Babies are very important—at least they are when they aren’t born like me.

Baby Elizabeth can't help anyone make a baby and she was extremely important. Sim can't help anyone make a baby either. So it's the Cogenitor.

But I have been trying to think of someone to write that isn't too obvious or obscure... <sigh> White Collar is on at 10:00 I'll figure it out at 11:00 and it will be done before midnight. Still making it "tonight." See how many loop holes I can find.

Oh if I hadn't had babies on the brain I might have missed it myself. Dis is a great author.

Well guessed, WG. The similarity hadn't struck me before, but seeing that drabble suddenly reminded me of Roy from Blade Runner as he told us about all the things he'd seen, and lost.

That's so sad, Distracted! It was really good, though. These two lines were heartbreaking:

Now I’ve heard things, seen things, tasted things, and felt things I never imagined existed--and they don’t exist anymore, not for me.

If being a person is such a good thing, why does it hurt so much?

Gotta love an inspiration hit! But editing this to a flat 100 was a pain. It doesn't flow as well as I'd like. Oh well here it goes...

I know everything they don't say...

I know the most outgoing human, is the most private.

I know the gregarious alien is the most homesick of us.

I know our Captain is ambitious, enjoys his power.

I know the most reserved of us longs to be accepted for who she is.

I know a man who has only known stars, wonders if he'd be happier on solid ground.

I know the one who protects us, protects his only true family. But with all of that he still feels alone.

I just wish he knew what I can't say. I'm here.

So true. So very true. That's not a drabble. Or at least, it's not just a drabble; it's very poetic.
