I'm not sure but T'Khut may have moons, which might explain the other celestial bodies seen in TMP.

Oh boy this is more confusing then Grey Jedi. Sorry Aquarius. My solution would be what KTR said...

Re: Vulcan has no moon
Not having a moon can cause a planet's axis to wobble like a top spinning out of control. Having a large moon somehow stabilizes the spin. Off the top of my head (and I really used to know all this stuff, I'm not sure how the moon would cause the planet to lose atmosphere. But if life gets started and then the north and South pole suddenly become the equator, it would be very bad for life adapted to the various climates. It would be especially bad for a Planet with like a Pangeia (one large continent, so that animals are stuck and can't migrate.)
Hmmm . . . a really large moon could keep the core of the planet stirred up and the spinning iron is what causes the magnetic field, which deflects solar wind, which can eat away the atmostphere . . . . OK

Why are you sorry? I likewise suggested that T'Khut had moons.
Re: Vulcan has no moon
Well, I'm starting to appreciate Earth's moon.
Oh, and there's certainly a possibility that life could evolve on a moon.

But I've settled on the fact that Vulcan has moon-like celestial objects that help stabilize its axis and orbit and regulate its tides. They also appear to be moons in the sky - but they aren't moons by strict definition. I still have to revise the last chapter of Dusk, but not very much.

Honeybee, me too. I have Vulcan with a moon in one story I am writing.
So, guess we have Vulcan with a moonrise.

Re: Vulcan has no moon
For my own purposes I'm sticking with the sister planet with funky orbit explanation. It's the one that I seem to remember being around the longest which doesn't interfere with Spock canonically establishing that there are no moons that orbit Vulcan.

Yes, exactly! That's what they also said on that Mars documentary I saw a few days ago.
Well, there was another thing said in the documentary too, and that was a theory that Mars used to have a large body/asteroid/moon/whatever that did orbit the planet once and that's what made Mars's then water and atmoshpere possible. However, eventually that body crashed into Mars, causing the distinct differences between Mars northern and southern hemispheres. A true extinction level event (if the planet did have some life back then).
She's got an awfully nice bum!

I got with sister planet because it's simpler. Jeeze this was one tough thing to wrap my brain around.
