Oh I love my beagle/boarder-collie to death! He is my baby and my love I need him. But if I was a Captain of a starship with nearly 100 people under my care and command, and we needed a vital part to keep everyone safe... I'd suck it up apologize for the offense and nicely ask them not to kill my baby. I don't think they wanted to kill poor Porthos anyway. Archer was a inept fool in that one.

The Kreetassins didn't even know Porthos was sick, as far as I could tell. They didn't hold the dog responsible for their inappropriately watered trees, but Archer. The first time I saw Night In Sickbay I cringed all the way through. Now I think it's hilarious. And it plays to one of Bakula's strengths: he can be very funny.

Humor's great but it certainly didn't show him in the best light as a Captain of a flagship. Even Trip was telling him to act like the trained diplomat he is supposed to be. TRIP! You know if your best friend is telling you to act your age you're being really immature. Archer just never screamed 'architect of the Federation' to me. I miss Captains like Picard.

My favourite Trek Captain is Kirk, followed by Sisko.

Didn't care much for any of the others.

Here we are, in the right thread this time:

Picard was good - but sometimes his stance from his high horse, in large doses, can be slightly nauseating.

Also, he tends to be dull as.

Kirk spent more time chasing skirts then "Exploring strange new worlds." Hey I'm a product of the eighties what do you want form me? I can't stand DS9 so Sisko didn't do much for me. Please don't kill me! Janeway was awesome but she let a Borg hussy steal her man. So Picard wins! He was mature and dedicated, yes he was on a "high horse" but the lives of over 1000 people including families rested on every choice he made. The only thing that bothered me was his discomfort with children. Well and the fact that he and Beverly wouldn't just bite the bullet and marry each-other. Jeeze they were mad for each-other, and what did we get? They got divorced in a false timeline but she kept his name. Archer though was the WORST I've ever seen. Pike though is a sentimental favorite because Jeffery Hunter was an amazingly gifted actor, and I'm a HUGE classic movie fan. Anything made between 1930-1969 to me is just breath-taking art.

You have to understand.
I grew with Kirk: he's a cow-boy (NO OFFENSE, PLEASE! :) ), but for me he's "The Captain".
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Don't have much with Kirk, but Sisko is my favourite Captain. He is the only one with a real heart for his crew and not so selfcentred like e.g. Archer. Nice family man too. Second is Picard with his natural autority and I have a weakness for Janeway.
I like Archer, but for me in the show he is a better test pilot then captain.

Picard was a self-righteous bore who ruled by committee. Janeway was, well, some call her "Insaneway". And we all know that I could barely tolerate Archer. So you can say I like Trek in spite of, not because of, its captains.

My ranking:

1) Kirk
2) Sisko

3) Picard

4) Archer
5) Janeway

Oh I get why people love Kirk. But I grew up with him as The Admiral, he was always the admiral even when he got demoted. Picard was "The Captain" for me growing up. I was "The Next Generation" now I'm an old maid! God now I'm depressed. 8) Hey no trash talking Janeway some of us had been waiting a LONG time for a female Captain! And I'll admit there were some episodes where I was like "say what," but on the whole I thought she was BRILLIANT.

Ranking: Picard, Janeway, (almost tied) Kirk, Sisko (don't know enough about him, HATE DS9) Archer doesn't get a spot.

 I also grew up in the only decade with decent music, the 80-ties. Guess that makes me a old maid too!

Sorry both my younger sisters are married and I can't get a date. Sometimes it bothers me, that and my birthday was 29 days ago. Still getting used to being 25.

Feh! I grew up with TOS in the 70s. Kirk is the Captain!

Now I feel like an old man! You're nothing but young whippersnappers!
