No I understand. But I don't think there was any real anamosity between them in season 1. And later there were plenty of oppertunities for them to form some sort of friendship. Yeah sometimes women shred each other to pieces but I don't think either Hoshi or T'Pol are the type.

It's not so funny if you're a woman.

Why do any two people become friends? I don't think being female is a strong reason for any two given women to become friends. There has to be more to it.

I've seen women women at work who are great friends, jolly colleagues, lively competitors, whining bores, and sneaky brutal bitches who make everyone else's life hell.

Very true. I don't ever see Hoshi and T'Pol becoming BFFs who do each other's nails and gossip. :upchuck: But I could see them developing caring/concern for one another based on mutual respect as they worked together over the years.

After the first season, though, the writers rarely had them working together at all outside of the bridge where everyone was.

I've actually written Hoshi as having a better understanding of Vulcans than other members of the crew based on the fact that she's fluent in Vulcan and has studied their literature. But that translates into respect rather than friendship.

There was one T'Pol's ex-colleague in Vulcan arc. They was fighting in that scene

Well, I can't really count him since he turned out to be a Romulan agent.

I'm not saying that women have to be friends because they are women. What I am saying is that if two people develop respect for each other, and have certain things in common, (which T'Pol and Hoshi actually DO) and are surrounded by men all day every day, they probably would become friends. The level of friendship doesn't have to be the deep intimate kind, but I think it's very unrealistic that Hoshi and T'Pol had NOTHING!

I think that because Hoshi makes inquiries T'Pol about the side effects of mind-meld in Divergence arc. I assume that if there is no development (unfortunately, only behind the scenes) of their good work relations and some friendly link Hoshi would ask Phlox (maybe Archer as a great Vulcan expert) but not T'Pol.

Yeah, I would agree that by the time that episode comes around we can assume they have at least a fairly relaxed working relationship, and perhaps more we don't see on camera.

Well I could accept nothing if there was another main female character. Or if they had a constant disregard for each other but that's not what it was.

The writers toyed with it in Sleeping Dogs but then it was promptly forgotten. I think Hoshi being somewhat telepathic could've made a "reason" for her and T'Pol to develop some sort of friendship.

Actually they never said Hoshi was Telepathic only that her mind was very receptive to telepathic contact. There's no evidence she could send any telepathic contact only recieve it. But Sleeping Dogs is one of my favorites. T'Pol's line about expecting the best from Hoshi because she knows Hoshi is capable of it was amazing. JB did a good job with that one.

Well, however her form of telepathy works, my own pet theory for her uncanny linguistic abilities is that she's somewhat telepathic. She could intuitively "sense" what the other aliens was saying.
