Postby hth2k » Tue Aug 28, 2007 6:08 am

Sorry for the late notice.

Here is a link; http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/L ... Aug28.html

Totality starts 3:53 AM PDT

Mid totality 3:37 AM PDT

Totality ends 4:22 AM

The moon should take on a distinctly red-brown tone during totality.

got up at 5:45EST this morning to see the eclipse. My husband told me about it - I had no idea.

It was really pretty, reddish-brown in color. It was amazing the number of stars we could see without all that moonshine.

Now I'm gonna try not to take a nap at work. :)

I forgot too. Here's a picture by John Pane, a member of our astronomy club:

Thanks for those shots. It feels like I'm actually watched it (and didn't sleep in instead ;)).

It was supposed to happen around 2:30 am here and my friend called me the night before to remind me. But I was up late doing homework and opted to wait for the next one. Although I;m not sure how long that'll be...

I was up late and had an early start the next day so I set the alarm and got up around 3 AM and took a quick look.

More brown than red here on the left coast.

If you click on the NASA link in my original post and scroll down the page, there is a list of more lunar eclipses for the next several years.

At the bottom of the page there are some web resource links. A couple are for lunar eclipse photography and have some outstanding images. One shows the redest eclipse I have ever seen.
