Do you really think that with all the internet and stuff they could ever actually make everyone in the world stop writing fanfic?? And posting it for nonprofit?? That would be like totally demented

There's no way in hell they can go after everybody. Even with all their resources. Plus it's gonna generate like so much negative media attention on them

Same way it's done with music sharing? It still happens, but the stuff that's legal is so regulated as to be fairly useless.

But music sharing is like original work not derivative, fanfic involves your opinions, your freedom of speech, freedom of press and whatnot, not to mention your time and effort and ideas and imagination since it's partly your creation. The rights you're entitled to in a free country. Hell that's a big enough cause to be taken on by human rights organizations. That's the difference
