Is anyone watching this show? Is there already a thread for it? I would like to know what others think of it and if anyone watched last night's premiere. I have mixed opinions on it and was wondering what others thought of it, especially as it has a Star Trek connection with Zachary Quinto.

I watched the premiere last night!
I made chili and the neighbors came over, because we always have a small party on Heroes night!
Any way, I'm up for discussing it here if anyone wants to.

Re: Heroes
I have mixed opinions on the show, as a whole, but I enjoyed the premiere last night. I think some of the acting is just out-of-control good and some is equally poor. The character of Angela Petrelli. Um...wow. I think its fantastic and well written. I think so because they keep you guessing on whether or not she is good or evil.
My thoughts on the premiere:
The positives:
The negatives:
My impression of the coming season:

My thoughts on the premiere:
The positives:
SPOILER!!!:
The aforementioned Angela Petrelli. Holy crap! Her new plotline and the possibility of Sylar being her son, coupled with the inability to determine neither good nor evil in her character---sublime. I am also intrigued by the "villians." The fact that they were on Level 5 and Sylar was only Level 2 is fantastic. Sylar. Zachary Quinto is such a quiet, creep evil. Can't wait to see his "Spock." The return of Linderman. Awesome!
The negatives:
SPOILER!!!:
Nathan Petrelli. Peter Petrelli. Claire. Mohinder. Anyone besides me think its ridiculous to think Nathan Petrelli would make the leap to crediting "God" for his miracle recovery? Ummm...after everything he's seen the last 2 seasons? Really? Peter Petrelli from the future coming back to save the world. Didn't we see that plot already? I've never liked the whiny Peter character. This premiere did not change my opinion on it. I absolutely loathe what the writers did to Claire's character. What was the point of that? They've completely weakened her, IMO. I hope they change that soon. I also did not care for turning Mohinder into a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde - type character. I find it difficult to believe the natural progression of his character includes giving himself supernatural abilities. Contrived plot device, IMO.
My impression of the coming season:
SPOILER!!!:
It's going to be very "dark." I suspect strongly that it will be more "villains" than "heroes." The good thing is that their better-developed characters are the supposedly evil ones: Angela Petrelli, Sylar, Linderman. I'm left hoping their storylines carry the rest of it.
Anyone else?

The season premiere was quite surprising, can't wait to see what will happen next.

Re: Heroes
I think we're going to see some hero/villain conversions, as far as the 'hero/villain' balance.

I totally agree. Some of the supposed "heroes" are definitely set up to become villainous. That could be interesting if they do it right. Meaning...not what they started to do with Mohinder.

Re: Heroes
I only have a couple of real disappointments with the show.
On a lighter note, does anyone know the name of the song that was playing in the beginning of the second part of the premiere, or who performed it?
SPOILER!!!:
The Nathan/God thing really bugged me. Sorry, but it really turns me off when an otherwise good show gets all religious. And as was pointed out earlier, it's really unrealistic, I think, that Nathan would conclude that it HAD to be God responsible for his recovery. After all the things he's seen and done, you'd think he'd have concluded that he and his brother and others like them can use their gifts for doing good long before this. This whole "we're angels" thing? It's off the cheese factor scale.
Mohinder--Please! His whole life has been science. I know the whole point was to show human weakness against temptation (hmmm, another religious lesson in the making perhaps?), but injecting yourself with something you just discovered and haven't even tried out on so much as a rat hardly goes along with the scientific method. Now, it's like he's turning into The Fly or something.

Re: Heroes
Ok, two episodes in...still not liking the direction its going. But, WHOA! Those Level 5 dudes have really COOL powers!
And I'm still digging the Angela Petrelli character. She's so creepy, you just can't turn away.
I also think Zachary Quinto did a really good job in this last episode. It gives me hope for his ability to give us a decent "Spock."

Re: Heroes
I think what they did with Sylar and Bennet is interesting.
Re: Heroes
I was given a detailed play by play of the s3 premiere back in July during the Heroes panel at ComicCon via cell phone, so I've known what to expect when the season opener finally premiered two weeks ago. My source assured me that this season promises not to disappoint the fanbase, but admittedly I've found the direction of these past two episodes repetitive and tiresome. It's the Sylar/Mohinder show again. They're big players--we get that. Let's shift the focus a little more and a little longer on other characters. Angela Petrelli is an interesting development. That being said, am I the only one bothered by the obvious pattern the female characters seem to follow--defensive=evil!crazy, offensive=victimized!crazy. Still, season 3 is only two episodes in with another 20 or so more episodes to come (writer/actor/director etc. strike pending). I know that season 2 has been dismissed as a whole lot of blah... but don't forget that entire season was truncated due to the writer's strike. So, as disappointed as I've been, I will continue to stick with this series. There have been disappointments, but the excitement hasn't wan. I still think it's one of the most inventive concepts on TV right now.
