I thought this day deserved recognition.
For the hell of it, if anyone's up for it, why don't we serenade this occasion with a Trip and T'Pol OR Enterprise related First Contact Fic Challenge?
Like the monthly challenges, feel free to work on them for however long you would like.

And this year is the 400th Anniversary of Galileo looking through a telescope. Over here we have been celebrating for the past two weeks. I'm almost all astronomied out.

That sounds like a good fic challenge, Elessar! Hmmm, I think we can come up with plenty of ideas for this.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

So who made first contact with humans? T'Mir and Mestral or the Vulcan "partying" with Zefram Cochrane?

THAT WAS SOLKAR!!!

Actually it was never definite whether that was or not. The debate is, Solkar was the first ambassador to Earth, but was it just by some fluke of chance that it happened to be a diplomatic vessel that was nearby, or that a diplomat was ON whatever type of vessel that was nearby; OR, was it the case that the vulcan we see meeting Cochrane is just some random vulcan on whatever ship was there, and later on, when the Vulcans actually send an official diplomatic group, Solkar is with them.

Re: Happy First Contact Day
Hm, good question. Or maybe every Vulcan survey/exploration ship carries a diplomatic functionary even if that person has other duties on board. Maybe it was Solkar who met Cochrane and he was a diplomat/scientist on that ship. Or maybe he was the captain and all Vulcan captains have taken the three week mini course in first contact diplomacy?
