 Actually recently I've been catching myself saying "yobshigurth" a lot when I encounter the endless stupidity in this zoo, and boy there's a lot so yeah. It means something like "for crying out loud" in Thanagarian I guess. Don't really know if the spelling is correct since I can't find it written anywhere but that's pretty much what it sounds like. :? :dunno: It's an expression I picked up from HAWKGIRL

I think it's like anything really. You weigh the potential benefits of having it against the potential risks from having it. My 13 year old daughter had the shots with no problems. I usually don't hesitate with vaccinations. We've been lucky enough, though, that none of the kids has ever had a problem with any of them.

Agreed. I think that by the time things like this become available to the general population, they're already figured out that the benefits generally outweigh the risks. Sure, you could be one of the 1% of the population (or whatever) a new vaccination or medication could go horribly wrong for, but having something on the market for a long time or even previous exposure to it is no guarantee, either. One day several years ago I suddenly found myself deathly allergic to sulfa, after having had it several times in my life without any previous problem. You just don't know sometimes.

My aunt had cervical cancer, which she survived, but she's in and out of the hospital these days dealing with nasty complications from those long-ago radiation treatments. She probably got the HPPV from her first husband. This is back in the 50's and 60's. If you can avoid the HPPV virus that causes this, which is incredibly common in the population and generally causes no symptoms, why not do it? On the plus side, you might be able to skip quite a few pap smears.

Hell, I remember the surgeon even expected my breast biopsies (for symptoms you don't want to know about) to turn up HPPV (though in my case they didn't). It's just such a good virus not to ever get in the first place.

And even if you're a God-fearing young woman who plans on marrying a fine upstanding young man, that's great, but you might consider that infidelity is just as common among that group as any other. Nobody expects that to happen to them until it does. And it's not one of those things you want to find out the hard way, with an illness that could change your life forever.

I'm going off the deep end into bad insanity. I hate my Grammy's new place, I'm going crazy being teased by both mum and Grammy, and to top it all off Grammy is forgetting things too easily for my tastes, but the drs. swear its just normal aging. I just want home and my kitty, but I love my Grammy so much too. I just wish they'd stop talking and actually listen to me.

Nope I'm going home tomorrow. But I'm stuck here in this basement because I need quiet. I feel really guilty.

It's difficult when people in our lives don't seem to be hearing us. I can totally relate to the need sometimes for quiet. I think for us introverts too much stimulation can be difficult to process and we need a place to calm ourselves. I had some stuff going on in my house some months ago with my dad that was causing me stress and I did the very same thing...went down to the basement. Dark, quiet places can be helpful for self-soothing. Have you ever tried listening to soft music? And I know what you mean about the kitty as well. Pets are warm and loving and are always accepting of us. Sounds as if you are taking care of your needs. That's a good thing.

My son started kindergarten on Monday and has cried in school EVERY day since. He's been telling me since he woke up this morning that he wants to quit and go back to pre-school. I don't know what to tell him to keep him from crying. His teacher says it's "fear of the unknown." He has gym glass today for the first time and he's telling me he's afraid. Ugh.
