I was so sorry to hear, Aikiweezie. I heard your condition can be very painful and unpleasant. Hope you find meds that work for you and you get better soon.

Got on anti-virals Monday afternoon. Got very little sleep last night and the pain meds my doc gave me, tramadol, makes me goofy so I plan to avoid them. Couldn't work on "Boss" because of this. Not sure how long I'll be out of sorts.
Not happy.
I'm so sorry to hear about this, Aikiweezie, and I hope you are feeling better soon too, . While I don't have your disease, most of the diseases I'm on Social Security Disability for involve pain, so I can sure relate to that problem. Sorry to hear the tramadol is giving you that type of side effect, I was on tramadol for years and might need to go back on it again, but I heard it's one of the more milder types of narcotics they have out there for folks dealing with serious pain problems. But please do keep after your doctor to find you a pain medicine you can live with, because proper pain management has everything to do not only with making the pain suck somewhat less, but it also helps you maintain your quality of life too. (And if you're not on Disability and/or SSI already like I am, you might want to have a heart to heart talk with your doctor about that too because a painful condition can sure become debilitating and/or disabiling). Take care!

Marchale, I seem to be one of those people who has an oposite reation to many pain meds. They make me unable to sleep. I took a xanax and slept for 11 hours last night. Didn't wake up once. This morning I'm taking a tramadol because the pain is BAD. I hope this doesn't go on for too long. It's summer and I have things to do! And a 7 year old who has things to do, too. * Sigh *

Re: Randomness
My wife had shingles. Fortunately it was the external kind and a very mild case. It was cleared up and she no longer has it. She was in pain while she did have it. I can sympathize for you ordeal. Hopefully you will be as fortunate as she was.

Re: Randomness
Unsightly as it may be external is better than Internal. That is very hard to cure and is much more painful than external. Small favors.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Hmmm, you might want to see what a pharmacist might recommend asking your doctor about. Glad to hear you were given xanax too (I took that right after my mom died 3 years ago; yeah - it is great for helping you to get good sleep as well as it's calming affect when you're under a helluva lot of stress). Yeah, I bet it's at least twice as difficult to deal with as a parent who has a young child to raise when you're not feeling up to it. I'd remind your doctor of that fact so he/she realizes that you can't just put things off indefinately till you're feeling better later. I sometimes will go days without say washing the dishes or eat hot dogs every meal till I run out of them, but as a parent you don't have that option, so I hope your doctor can appreciate that and treat your needs more aggressively than what they might for a childless patient like me who isn't responsible for taking care of young ones besides. Good luck on that! Oh, and I'm real glad to hear your shingles are of the external type, I can sure relate to having ugly sores you cover up, one of my numerous medical problems is a really ugly looking case of severe psoriasis I cover up in public too. Anyway, hang in there, kiddo - and I hope you're feeling better soon (and till you can get a pain med better suited for you, I hope your side effect from the tramadol eases up for you).

Got myself a external 1TB HDD. No more storage space shortage for a while

Re: Randomness
Good to have ample storage, but make sure you have a scheme for backing it up too.
Re: Randomness
The stuff I store on the external drive I can afford to loose. I have very little stuff that is important anyway.

Congratulations!
Isn't that a great feeling, especially if you were running low on space? Yeah, I got a large external one shortly before my old computer died. (Luckily I had put a copy of my most important stuff on the external drive, so it wasn't that big of a deal when the computer crashed (though it sucked being offline for awhile saving up for a new computer). Thats the really nice thing about external drives. Hopefully it will be a long time before you have to replace your computer, but at least when you do, you can just unplug it and put it in your new computer then. Anyway, thats wonderful news to hear!

Re: Randomness
My internal drives are more secure because my PC is powered through Backup UPS witch gives me around 17 min on battery.

Well thats good to hear; but hon, you really should keep an extra copy of at least your most important stuff in another place too (if not on your external drive, then on a CD or DVD) just in case, because all computers will die someday. I'm on my 8th computer already since I got into computing initially back in 1988 (that was before Windows and my first computer didn't even have a hard drive installed in it).

Re: Randomness
USB memory sticks are great but prone to being wiped out if you leave them plugged in when the computer fails. But there are plenty of online storage services that give you free storage and it's surprising how much you can get on a ZIP.

Ewww, I didn't know that about zip drives, thanks for that information, Cogito, I really appreciate that! (I'm gonna stop using mine as just a teeny little drive I had just been using from a USB port whenever I wanted to work on something I had on it (like when using my beloved Paint Shop Pro 7, etc) - up till now, that is! From now on that stuff can get copied to my 2TB external drive and I'll just leave the zip alone for a backup storage thing instead). Thanks so much!
