I generally try to ignore reality TV, despite the fact that my husband's always watching the stuff. It's mind-numbing. In the States if you turn off the TV by 10 pm you can avoid the porn, so I usually just turn off the TV and read after 10 pm if I'm still awake. Usually I'm not.

On the subject of old TV shows we used to have "Creature Features" (I think this was strictly an SF Bay Area thing). Every Friday night, horror or monster movies. Godzilla, Mothra, good, quality movies!

Now, in terms of deprivation, we had a number of channels in SF, at least 8. However, my spoiled children have never had to stand around holding onto the rabbit ears for an hour. "Don't wiggle it!"
