Glad to hear it! Kitty finally got fixed, YAY! No more screeching.

You've never heard screeching until you live with a kitten in heat. Did you (general you) know cats are not considered fully mature until 3 years old? Oh and I found out my kitty is a rare sub-breed of siamese that is a pure bred to boot. I found her wet and half starved on my porch and nobody ever looked for her. Weird.

I feel kind of guilty. She's still not herself yet. However hopefully I can post picture of her soon. She's so beautiful.

Re: The Happy News thread
I'm wondering why putting "happy news" in a search box would turn up the result: "ignoring: happy." Apparently our site's search engine is depressed, or only cares about "news"?
Anyway, happy news: power is back, a day ahead of the estimate. I am reminded of Mr. Scott.
I think we had it easy, though. On our stepdaughter's short little residential block in Hackensack, NJ, there are at least five massive trees down -- a couple of them on houses, and one snapped in half right over a power line. That's not really happy news, I guess, except that they are okay, and even the lady who got two on her house is okay.

Alelou, glad to hear it. NY's not used to that kind of storm, at all.

Re: The Happy News thread
I wouldn't say that about upstate NY. Iin last winter's ice storm, our power was out for five days...
(But yes, Hackensack is an NYC suburb, so they're not used to it.)

Actually I meant rain and strength. Hubs and I watched the form and path of the last storm and usually see that kind of storm rip through the SE but never (in our memory) over NY. Those kinds of storms usually create tornadoes here in the south (line storms with strong pockets). Relatives near Poughkeepsie just had their 3rd 100-year flood in the last 5 years.

Re: The Happy News thread
Yep, I'd welcome that "weather modification net" they mentioned in TNG.

Wasn't that the episode where a terrorist group took control of the system on Risa? Or was that DS9? I remember Worf was in it. Either way, just our luck we would have the same problem.

Re: The Happy News thread
Nah, it's the one with the young blonde, apparently a Q, whose parents had suspiciously died from a freak tornado even though Earth had a weather modification net. I can't remember the title but no doubt it had Q in it. I can't remember why they were hiding out on Earth or whatever it was... distant history. I only remember thinking what a great thing a weather modification net would be...

Re: The Happy News thread
Oh I remember that one, kind'a. I remember most of the story about the girl but cannot remember much about the problem they had to solve.
I guess it would be something similar to the device I remember with Worf where it was revealed that Risa was actually a sloshy, rainy crapworld (like Ferenginar) that they were able to control the weather into a perfect paradise. It might have been the same technology.

I'm glad you got your power back Alelou! I was away for the weekend, so I didn't know you lost it. Beverly Crusher met a ghost on a rainy planet with an satelite controlled weather system which replicated the weather of Scotland. ????
I'm donating my body to science fiction.

Re: The Happy News thread
Definitely wasn't that one. I hated that episode. I don't think gothic romance is a genre that plays well on Star Trek. (Didn't like it in that Hoshi episode either.)
I'm the daughter of a Scotsman, and I've spent some time in Scotland, and why anyone would actually want to recreate that weather on another planet is beyond me.
