well I have some pretty damn good news

So for those of you who don't know, last year about this time I applied to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Graduate School of Aerospace Engineering.... and was accepted for the MS program... but declined. I was planning to apply also a few other schools but none of that panned out. I decided recently to re-apply, confident that I would gain admission once again... only to learn that basically my admission last year for the Fall semester could be "recoded" (word of the week!) for this fall... Sort of like it was deferred. So... I went to start my app last night about 1 am. Realized that the program wouldn't let me submit an app for the Spring yet... sent an email to the graduate coordinator... learned about all of this...and... well, 8 emails and 6 hours later and I have a congratulatory admission email from the Graduate School

So... looks like I'm enrolling in 2 months!

Sweden is in a royal wedding fever mood. Tomorrow Crown Princess Victoria marries Daniel Westling, an ordinary Swedish guy. It really is something of a modern fairy tale - a man of the people gets the royal princess.

Even if T'Pol isn't royalty, I cannot help thinking of Trip and T'Pol...

I spent most of the day watching the royal wedding here in Sweden. Here are some photos from the event.

At heart I suppose I'm a romantic, even if I cover it up with layers of cynicism, since it was all very moving.
