Bear with me, like so many Swedes I'm still on a royal wedding high... Here are some highlights of Saturday's wedding with music.

This is not some sappy Hollywood movie (I recall one The Prince and Me with Julia Stiles), it's for real. And it still reminds me of Trip and T'Pol.

Wow! Victoria looks amazing. She is going to be a great Queen I think. So parts were really touching. (BTW, 0.24 seconds in the movie I was caught of guard : the woman in the red dress next to Queen Sylvia is the Dutch Queen).

This is pretty random, but I was presented to Queen Beatrix back when she was Princess Beatrix and I was very little. It was on one of her State visits to Aruba, since I lived there for a few years as a kid.

I don't remember much except she was wearing a big hat.

It's a long time that many images whirl in my mind about a story regarding T'Pol and Trip's wedding.
Now my ideas are very clear.
Yes they are. :D
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Not sure if I'm back yet, I just wanted to ask a question about the weather at the wedding... Was it hot? Because her dress while beautiful looked heavy, and so did his Tux. I couldn't help but wonder if it was a hot day. Then again, it was 90 here so I might have been projecting.

PS "The Prince and Me" is one of my all time favorite movies. So I would say that its nice to know the movie can come true once-in-a-while. The certainly look happier than any other royal wedding I've seen.

I asked Trix and she remembers you ;-) No kidding, that's a nice childhood memory. BTW, the Queen and royals always wear a hat. It's the substitute of a crown.

No, it wasn't a hot day. I think it was 18-19 degrees C at most. Oddly enough, it rained over most of Sweden that day, except in the Stockholm area. So I take that as a sign of approval from the weather gods...

Thanks to a online conversion calculator I now know that's 66F. ;-) Sorry KTR I'm an American barbarian who cannot convert... I thought most cultures considered rain to be good luck on the day of a wedding. It must be different in Sweden.

Never heard that one before. :? We were mostly worried that rain would ruin the open carriage military parade by horse and royal sloop afterwards.

American culture doesn't, does it? I thought it was bad luck. It rained during my friend's wedding a few months ago...

BTW here's a good way to remember Warpy :D - 10 C or below, long sleeves, 15 C to 20 C, short sleeves, 25 C or above - no SHIRT!

It was freakin 94 with a heat index of 105 today... there was no way I was wearing a shirt any longer'n I had to at work,

Got ya beat Elly 97F!!!! :faint: I might be moving into my parents pool. Thanks for the conversion tips. My sister married a Canadian, she can't convert either, her husband just tells her, warm, cold, colder... Actually in America it was originally "good luck" for rain on a wedding day. It just got all muddled into "bad luck" in recent decades. Now I'm going back to my vacation.

I never heard about rain meaning good luck - if that's the case lot's of marriages in my country have lot's of luck. We just glad that on our wedding day we have a sunny day. For pictures and all. ;-)

OK I am going away after this I promise. But when I was voraciously researching wedding traditions, I found out that rain being "good luck" was due mainly to Greek/Roman/Celtic fertility rights and pretty much spread everywhere else in the known western world and pretty much all of Eastern Europe too. Now I don't deny most people consider rain a very bad thing now, but that is really recent. Like when outdoor weddings became popular en mass. But that's what many bridal materials said and to make extra sure I double checked it with a real encyclopedia, not just WIKI. Because as we all know WIKI doesn't count. Good thing I'm not supersticious though, just insanely curious.

Speaking as a former part-time wedding photographer, your best wedding photos are taken on CLOUDY or OVERCAST days. Strong sun is not kind when you're taking pictures of people outdoors -- you get too much squinting, strong shadows, and washed-out skin tones.

Of course, outright rain is no fun at all. When I think back to all the events I shot, I'm surprised to remember how very, very seldom that happened. Oddly enough, the only really rainy wedding I remember was for one of Jaime's nephews, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, which is usually a notoriously dry part of the island. (And indeed that marriage was a disaster -- but they all said rain was good luck that day. Personally I thought the fact the groom had a car accident on the way to the cathedral was a bad sign. I think subconsciously he already knew it was going to be a wreck.)

Hello, Warpgirl. I noticed that several times here you alluded to possibly leaving the site? :( I'm not here a whole lot, but I am wondering just why you might be considering this? Small online communities like this are great because they are almost like a social group of sorts. Every member is valuable. You are valuable here, Warpgirl. Losing anyone upsets the balance of things. Sometimes life events may spill over into our everyday interactions and seem to magnify things. Is there something you're upset about that you'd like to discuss? I'm sure everyone here would like for you to stay on board. What do you think?
