Hm...

Dis. Have you considered a sign in, sign out sheet on a clipboard at the front desk or something similar? That was everyone would have to sign in at the same place and nobody could accuse anyone else of hanky or panky.

Just a thought. You could explain it straight out. Just say that somebody has been rooting through other people's papers when they were away form their desk, and then sneaking off to the big boss and carrying tales about their co-workers cheating on their time. Therefore you are being forced to institute an extra precaution to make sure that everyone stays on the straight and narrow. You are sorry to do it, because it is a shame to punish the innocent, but if SOME PEOPLE feel compelled to mind other people's business then lets get it all up front where everyone can see it.

Park that sucker right underneath a big (2 foot diameter maybe) clock right next to the receptionists desk. Right out front where everyone and their brother-in-law can see everyone sign in and sign out.

Actually, that's part of the problem. The nurses only document when they take time off, so if they come to work on time and aren't late back from lunch they don't write anything anywhere. There's a calendar book where everyone puts their time if they have to take time off during work hours. I'm the only one that has to remember to document four times daily because my schedule varies and I'm not always required to be there at the same time every day. It would solve the snooping problem, I suppose, if I started writing my times in the book with everyone else, but it would be confusing because they document in minutes off and I just put the times when I come and go. My boss has specifically asked me NOT to document there because it would be too confusing. The next best thing, I suppose, would be for me to put my record with the other book so everyone can read it. I actually have no problem with that, but if I don't keep the damned thing in my office and I have to make a special trip to document times 4 times daily I'll probably forget to document even more than I do already...and then have to guess...and then it's even LESS accurate. Sigh.

It's a good idea, though. Everyone else already displays their time off in a book that everyone has access to. Maybe I should try keeping my schedule with the other book and see if I can remember to record my times. Then I can't be accused of trying to hide anything, and no one has to snoop to see my hours.

That's why I suggested sticking it right up front. I have worked in several offices where we did that. We all had to sign in and sign out so the receptionist would know who was there and who was out in the field doing inspections, or survey work, or taking samples, or whatever. So we had either a clipboard, or in some cases a dry erase board, where everyone logged in and logged out.

That hardly seems right.... Confused

Every place I've worked....and I've worked some crazy hours being a government employee, I've always had to write out when I take breaks and lunch. So has everyone else I've worked with.

I've never heard of not having to account for lunch. Confused

That just sounds...well odd to me.

If I am not mistaken, I think Dis mentioned that she works for a University? Academe is a different universe.

Ah if that's the case then I guess that would make since.

I'd just like to add that it seems ridiculous how much more the football coach is getting paid. Rolling Eyes I for one am a fan of the college health clinic. I had to get a vaccine booster and it was reasonably cheap, I didn't have to wait long when I walked in, and, most importantly, the staff was really nice. In ten years when I have to get a booster again I doubt it'll be as smooth as this was. That's worth much more than football.

It is a university health center, and yes...sports salaries are way overblown. The reason I was given is that the sports programs make money for the university, and so to attract a high profile coach they have to put out the big bucks. Apparently, since Student Health is a service department and we do everything for virtually cost to save the students money, we don't make any money over and above what we need to pay our own salaries and provide care. This means that our salaries are not a priority, and apparently any old doctor or nurse will do. Confused

Oh...and I asked my boss about the time clock again. She said that the reason we can't have one is that the university can't afford to get one for every department and state law prohibits them from requiring any university employee to do any more time documentation than any other employee. Screwy, huh? If we get one, then every department in the university has to have one.

Document your time on a pocket recorder. When you walk in, glance at your watch and intone, "reporting for work at 8:32 AM". Then forget it until quitting time.

Failing that, carry a little memo book for time only, and keep it in your pocket.

If anyone wants to see it, tell them... never mind.

Heh. I wish.

I put my time record book in the mailbox cubby with everyone else's time sheet this am. Now I just have to remember to record my times. We shall see. I guess if I forget I can always ask the nurses what time I came in. They're obviously paying attention. Cool

How messed up! Where I work we have to type in a special personal code on the computer and also enter the last 4 digits of our social security number. Then we're on the clock. (Our names appear along with the time signed in right on the screen). Seems as if with something as important as the medical profession, they'd have a more modern type of system. Confused

Okay new whine. I never run out of those unfortunately :? :(

I'm scared I'm gonna get kicked out         because of that stupid Puke Chick in my room I had like a really nasty argument with her today because she started like yelling at me and treating me like a slave, she really thinks she's like the frelling queen or something I honestly don't think she ever worked like one day in her frelling life, like she's got her rich daddy who lives around here paying all her bills (note that her rich daddy obviously doesn't want her staying with him... like duh she's an obnoxious little bitch) and she sleeps with older men for their money (*cough*tralk*cough*) and she treats me like she's better than me just because I have to actually bust my big fat ass to have a frelling bed to sleep on and she just spends all her time lying in bed, lying on the beach, or shopping.     The thing is that I really can't get in conflicts here with anyone because the manager really hates me and she likes to make everything my fault and then I get in trouble and I don't wanna get kicked out
