Happy News!

Prisocisor and I have officially bought our 2nd house! It's on a wee lake in town and is a cottage from the 1930's and we're gonna rent the crazy-ass house we bought in April and live in the lake house and flip it in 2009 and make $'s. Yay!

Mom told me everyone in my family secretly thinks we're really "foolish" (tho' she doesn't), and Priso's brother told us that everyone in HIS family secretly thinks we're going to try and ask them for money and they aren't giving us any.

Um: we never ASKed for any you freaks. So thanks. Don't worry.

Don't you love it when helpful family members let you know what other helpful family members are saying behind your back?

Anyhow, we are going to live on a lake so phooey to them!

Foolish like a FOX!

Happy NEWS! :D

Anyway, as for happy news, I came home for the weekend and if the weather's decent tomorrow I'm going to a corn maze with my aunt. I've never been to one so it should be neat. (Mitchell, there's an idea for next year!)

:? Id need a New Special Planter to pull that off. An a really big flat field, Something thats kinda hard to find round here. ;)

blacknblue wrote:Sell it dude! Are you crazy? Have you checked the price of corn lately? Sell those acres. You could probably get a good price for it, just as it stands in the field with somebody else agreeing to come and harvest it themselves.

Id loose Money doin that. Since Id have to basiclay pay more to buy it back in the feed.
So were gona pick our Extra corn, an grind/mill it ourselves. In fact Im even explorin the Idea of expandin acreage just for this reason, next season.
TnT I love em. Very Happy

Sounds like you might need to invest in a new or slightly used bin then.

Have you considered letting the cows go for a couple of years, and just raising corn until the price drops? Sounds like you might be able to clear more money feeding other people's cows. Then, when the price of corn gets back to something halfway reasonable, you would already be set up with everything you need to feed your own herd yourself.

Course, I am not a farmer. Take my free idea for exactly what it is worth.

In fact, forget I said anything. I will shut up. I have spent too many hours listening to old men sit around the stove whittling.

The Corn Maze convo has reminded me that my favorite month has arrived-- Hallo-month!

This weekend (weather permitting): The Cirque de la Lune in Mt Holly, NJ (formerly known as the Witches and Wizards Ball, and probably one of my favorite events of the year): The main part of an entire town is transformed... and it's so surreal to wander around the dark streets in costume with pretty much everyone else in their costumes as well. I'm stuck on what to wear this year, though... three more days to figure it out or I'll be back to my Jean Grey costume from last year or one of my medieval gowns from the years before.

The next few weekends and weekdays: Historic Hudson Valley/ Sleepy Hollow events-- everything from the Great Pumpkin Blaze to Legend Weekend and a ton of other events around Sleepy Hollow.

The next three weekends: the Pennsylvania Renaissance Fair has a Halloween-themed faire.

Yay! Lots of time when I can deny being an adult and run about in costume! Happy Emberchyld!

Re: The Happy News thread

I don't feel like starting a bad news thread, so I'll just put this here.

My poor sister who is 25 and marrying her 25 yr old bf on Oct 22nd in Hawaii has had nothing but nasty trouble getting this wedding going.

My stupid Dad got divorced from my nice stepmom in Jan 07 and so he's been all "it's her or me" about inviting both of them. My mom's crazy mom and the BF's mom were also making tough demands until eSister finally throws her hands up and goes FINE! Y'KNOW WHAT? NOW NO ONE'S INVITED EXCEPT THE PARENTS BECAUSE I CAN'T TAKE THIS CRAP ANYMORE!

So now everyone (including me) is uninvited simply to make things simpler. Which is fine. I think family hijacking wedding guestlists is the stupidest thing ever, and I have no $ to go to Hawaii anyway. Fine.

So eSis says to dad "so now you got your way...good for you...but for pete's sake could you at least quit drinking for a few weeks b4 the wedding so you're not all sick & messed up as usual?" and dad's all (get this): "No."

And so she goes well maybe I don't want you to come anymore. (Why she ever wanted him is a mystery to me, but it's her wedding). And he goes (get this): "I'm coming. There is no two ways about it. I'm going to that wedding."

Nice. Forcible wedding guest.

AND THEN! (GET THIS!) he torments my little 14 yr old sis last week so much during some argument they had and was so verbally mean and stupid (and drunk) that she had a massive panic attack (she has psych troubles) and totally lost it and so I .....*I* ....(I mean demure, non-boat-rocking little ol' me) .....*I* sent him an email basically divorcing him. I'm so sick of him.

And THEN on FRIday, the Fiancee here, the Groom....he is walking to his car after a hockey game and gets JUMPED by STRANGERS :?: :!: and severely beaten!

What the F***?

I mean WHAT THE F***??????

Our collective astrology tables (14 yr old included) must look like something Satan threw up after a bad meal this week. Yeesh!

So they're going anyway. Groom got:
*broken ankle
*facial stitches
*front teeth knocked out
*broken nose
*3 day hospital stay (free in Canada of course)

But they're going in three days.
