Sounds like you could be missing video and/or sound drivers. I'd like to give you a step by step guide, but I suck at writing documents. If you do a google search it should be able to turn up a howto for you. If you got a CD with your computer then try running that as well.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

As it says under Paul Allen:

Without Paul Allen Bill Gates would not have become the richest man in the world. Allen convinced Gates to drop out of Harvard to set up Microsoft, and was twice the programmer Gates ever was.

Allen was key to Microsoft's early success but was never as driven as Gates, once falling out with him after he skipped work for a day to go and see the first ever Space Shuttle launch. He was also key to Microsoft's buying QDOS, which the company transformed into DOS, the cornerstone of its success.

It's the same about Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak:

While Steve Jobs was the marketing mastermind who brought the whole thing about, Woz was the engineering muscle who developed the company's first products.

I love the attempt (and successful!) to rephrase "braniac" as "engineering muscle", that's awesome.

After nine fantastic months in Australia, I have returned to the US.

It was late spring, warm, and green with long days. Now I am home and it didn't get above freezing today, and it gets dark around 4.

But the airlines didn't make me pay extra for my third suitcase, and I returned safely without flight delays.

Welcome home. It IS cold and dark, isn't it? Winter is finally settling in.

But it will be nice to be home for the holidays, I hope.

It will indeed. I'm going to (or attempt to, at least) make a pavlova for Thanksgiving. (Meringue, whipped cream, and fruit - a very Aussie dessert.) I'm a family gal, so I'm glad to be home for the holidays.

"Star Trek" Shield May Protect Astronauts

This may be old news, but my copy of The Week actually had a picture of this with a little NCC-1701 in it and my heart melted. Unfortunately their online site doesn't have it.

It does, however, have people arguing about the new Trek movie: http://www.theweek.com/article/index/90 ... _Star_Trek
