Lets see...

Archer would probably go on Space Mountain... he can't get enough of the stars.

Malcolm would get stuck into laser tag or paintball of somekind.

Hoshi would take several trips round the Small World.

Travis would find the bumper cars... any excuse to crash the ship on purpose.

Phlox would find the petting zoo.

Trip would be too interested in trying to get into the maintenance houses to chat with the mechanics and play with the engines.

T'Pol would follow Trip claiming it was illogical to waste time on these rides especially with all the speed and manouvres Enterprise is put through.

Trip would eventually wind up in the Tunnel of Love knowing that T'Pol would follow and they would proceed to enjoy the dark... completely... on exiting T'Pol would be confused by the sight of Hoshi sashaying towards the Tunnel of Love line followed by a glazed eyed Malcolm who in turn is followed by several irate security guards wanting the laser tag equipment back.

Q. If you could ask a question like the school children did in Breaking the Ice, what would you ask, who would you ask... and maybe if no one minds... someone else can provide the answer that would be given

"Glazed eyed Malcolm". He probably has no idea what he's in for.

Distracted wrote:T'Pol is Jean Grey

Whut  you give her the character who can't stay alive for more than 5 minutes at a time and is so weak that in the 5 minutes she's actually alive, she can't even stay AWAKE for over 2 seconds because everything makes her faint?? :wtf: :?

I did make a comparison between T'Pol and Dark Phoenix once though... like because of how they both became consumed with emotions that they didn't care what they were doing anymore. (Trellium D...)

HOWever. As a long time X-Men fan I have to protest and say that TRIP is actually Jean Grey. I did this little "article" thingy for a friend's X-Men site like a hundred years ago... like about how TnT are the Summers family of the Star Trek universe   and I still have the backup. So here goes...

Trip & T'Pol: The Summers family of the Star Trek universe?

Trip and T'Pol of Star Trek: Enterprise are Summerses, and I intend to prove it! Although when it comes to them, T'Pol would have to be the Scott equivalent, while Trip gets Jean Grey.

Let's start with Commander T'Pol, whose last (lineal) name is mysteriously unknown, or nonexistent (though I doubt it - Spock had an "unpronounceable" lineal name, and he's Vulcan). So could her last name be... Summers? And is she hiding it for being unpronounceable for humans, or simply for being ashamed of it? I don't know how common the last name "Summers" is on other planets, but I'm sure it could be traced back to Corsair and Katherine-Ann's abduction... they DO have a son (AKA the "Third Summers Brother", AKA another lame Marvel Universe eye-roller cliche Summers/Grey plot device) who bears the codename "Vulcan". Also, as a Vulcan, T'Pol is very uptight and "by the book"... Just like Scott!

And now, Commander Charles "Trip" Tucker III (Charles?!), who has the "honor" (?) of being this week's Jean Grey. No, he's not red, but pretty much everything else lines up...

First of all, like every good Jean Grey, he was cloned. The clone Sim was created as Trip's neural tissue donor in order to save Trip's life. He lived his short, accelerated lifespan until he was compatible with Trip, and, like every good Jean Grey clone, died (on the operating table). And just like Scott and Maddy, T'Pol fell for the clone (if he had lived long enough, they could have had an alternate kid too!). Sim didn't turn evil though... well, he almost ran off on them and left Trip to die, but in the end he did the right thing. Does this count?

Like Jean, Trip died, and more than once! The first time, he was infected with a deadly virus and died, but was resurrected by the Organians. The second time he "died", he blew himself up to kill intruders. Though, the second death was so arbitrary, poorly written, and completely out of character for him, so I (among millions of other logical Trekkies) choose to believe it never actually happened. Did I also mention it wasn't actually Trip, but a holographic recreation of him (as in the Phoenix case - the clone, which at the time was believed to be Jean, died, but not the real Jean)? So there! He also died twice in alternate timelines that were reset eventually (Twilight and E2).

Just like Jean, Trip lost his sister in an alien attack on Earth. Only that in Jean's case, it was the Phalanx, and in Trip's case, it was the Xindi.

Trip's body was taken over by noncorporeal aliens - three times (well, twice of them by the Organians in the same episode, even when he was dead!). The Phoenix Force? The Organians healed Trip's dead body just like the Phoenix healed radiation-poisoned Jean (while conveniently using her cloned body). Except that Trip recovered instantly instead of being left at the bottom of a river for years... there are no rivers in outer space anyway.

And, as typical to Summerses in general and Scott and Jean in particular, every female (aliens included) falls for Trip, while the males want T'Pol... as if there aren't any other crewmembers on the ship! I mean, come on! Except for that guy on Risa who fell for Hoshi, but that's because T'Pol wasn't there. Duh!

Trip and T'Pol also share a telepathic bond, because that's how Vulcan relationships work - same as Scott and Jean's mindlink.

And where would a Summers family be without... alternate kids! Scott and Jean must have every possible version of them - one from the lab (Nate), one who popped from an alternate future (Rachel), and one from a clone (Cable). Trip and T'Pol lack the lattest, probably because Sim didn't live long enough to have kids. Poor Sim. Anyway, on to the offspring parade...

First there's Lorian, who will be dubbed "Rachel" for this matter. He was born in a Future Past (ha!), or a past future (it's confusing), as in his alternate timeline, the Enterprise was thrown back in time 117 years going through an unstable corridor. Lorian was over a hundred years old when the future past Enterprise met the "real" universe Enterprise in an attempt to prevent them from being thrown back in time (thus changing the future and preventing it from happening in the past...). Which had a weird Cable vibe when Trip met a son who was almost 3 times his age... The Future Past Enterprise's mission was successful, but Lorian's fate is unknown - his ship never emerged from the other side of the corridor. It could have been destroyed by the hostile aliens they were fighting, or erased from history (future?) because the timeline had changed. Or, thrown back in time another 117 years... ouch.

Then there's baby Elizabeth (named after Trip's dead sister), who will be dubbed "Nate". She was created by a bad guy in a lab from Trip and T'Pol's DNA, without their knowledge. Though, Paxton's scientists couldn't even get their cloning equipment right, and as a result, Elizabeth's genetic makeup was flawed -- oh yeah, so is Nate's -- and there was nothing anyone could do to save her. She died on the Enterprise. Poor thing :(

So, are Trip and T'Pol the Summers family of the Star Trek universe?

I'd say.

In fact, if you look far enough up their lineage, I bet you could find some Nathans.

Oh yeah. And I think Malcolm should be Bishop  and Hoshi should be Cypher!

 Nice article TPoptarts. And accurate for Trip :D (Baby Elizabeth as Nate, that's fantastic.) Enterprise should have an episode titled "Days of Future Past that actually are a Conditional time that didn't happen but have Imperative influence in the Alternate Present", or something like that.

For my part, I've always thought that T'Pol was Ororo Munroe. Proud, cold (but very passionate inside), aloof, unreachable and she's always too busy angsting to save the world :D And, her marriage isn't a very wise idea :)

:guffaw: Brilliant article, T'Poptarts! And yeah, I never thought of it before, but yeah, Trip fits more of the Jean Grey character. Lorian as "Rachel" and Baby Elizabeth as "Nate". Hee!

Malcolm as Bishop? OK, that's wicked. Wasn't Bishop a former policeman or something?

And T'Pol as Storm? I can see that too...and why did she end up with the Black Panther as a husband??? :dunno:

Guys, I'm gonna start a ENT/X-Men thread, 'cause it's great to find other loyal fans. :) EDITED: I put it in the "Other Trek" forum.

BTW, we need a new question. Any takers?

Dunno where it's located or even if Enterprise has one. I know there was one in TNG. Hydroponic gardening is growing plants without soil. A hydroponic garden on board ship would mainly be for fresh produce, I'm thinking. Using algae to produce oxygen would be more efficient, I would think, than growing plants that take up more space, but I suppose you could grow both food plants AND algae. And maybe the occasional ornamental flower or two.

Q: If you had a child, spouse, or other loved one who was dying and could only be saved by the creation of a clone like Sim and the harvesting of tissues from the clone, would you do it, even if harvesting the tissue would kill the clone?

Would you do it if the harvesting of the tissue necessary to save your loved one wouldn't shorten the clone's already very short lifespan?

If you decided to do it, would you want to know the clone?

Wow. I think if the clone was sentient like Sim, I couldn't justify creating a living, thinking being just to die. However, I say that now, comfortable in my remoteness from the situation.

But if I did, I don't think I could look the clone in the eyes.

Who could stand Q's company? Urgghh.

I like the Vulcan ships with their ring nacelles. And the alien ship in The Crossing - like a big ol' manta ray.

Would the sehlat have actually eaten Archer?

The Xindi Aquatics ship was pretty cool.

I vote "yes." A desert planet is a pretty harsh environment. I gotta think the local wildlife wouldn't pass up a free meal.

Since I am new to these forums, please forgive me if my question has been asked before.

Q: We know what happened in TNG, DS9, and VOY, but how would the NX-01, Archer, and crew have handled the Borg?
