STD=Sexually Transmitted Disease.

CX says that "SyFy", the SciFi Channel's new moniker, is a slang term in Poland for such a disease involving "spots". Hmmm. I suppose that could be a couple of 'em, come to think of it.

Anyway, my curiosity has been piqued. How would an American know or discover such a term? And why? :?

I have a whine: My sweet little ferret is sick. She's wheezing and she won't eat anything but her liquid high calorie nutritional supplement licked off my fingers, and she's barely drinking. We're going to the vet this afternoon to see if an antibiotic might help, and I ended up having to give her sub-Q saline last night and this morning. Poor thing. The 10 cc syringe is as long as one of her little legs. Instead of getting out and bouncing around the room like she usually does, when I open her cage she just lies there and wheezes. :cry:

I never had ferrets, so I can only say I hope she recovers! I am sorry she is sick. :( How old is she and how long do ferrets live?

Too blurry to see how red and green and purple and black and swollen everything really is but the real thing is like way nastier and still hurts like a frelling sonovahazmot since yesterday. :( Can't even see where the needle went in with all this mess, which I guess is a good thing cuz if I could I'd have to cover it because it makes me dizzy, but seeing stuff that looks like it's been hit by a rocket ship doesn't bother me as much. :? :roll: But I can still feel it and it hurts it makes my whole arm feel like it's nauseous, and when something touches it or I bend my arm it makes me feel like I'm inside a huge bell and someone's hitting it really hard. :( :cry: :explode: They had me hooked up to an oxygen tank for like 2 hours yesterday :roll: and I'm pretty sure I passed out at some point, well either that or I fell asleep but I doubt it cuz I don't usually fall asleep when I'm scared to death and can't breathe. :roll: And they stuck the wrong arm!!! :explode: :cry: I can't use the computer with my right arm :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

Ouch, T'Poptarts, that looks like it hurts. I hope at least that you're feeling better now otherwise.

My ferret, on the other hand, well... ferrets can live up to 7 or 8 years but she didn't quite make that. She was six. Ferrets have odd immune systems. They get a lot of cancers. The vet said that her lung infiltrates were probably cancer, but that I could try antibiotics if I wanted. I got two doses in her before she passed away at about 11 last night. :(

Thanks for the support, guys. We'd had her since she was five weeks old. She was a member of the family. We buried her in the flowerbed at our camp. The girls are making a cross for her now.
